Making time for the things that are important to me is a constant. This is probably true in your life too! Time is a challenge, but we always make time for the things that are important to us. With people and activities that are important, there will always be time, it’s just a matter of priorities.
Creative Affirmation
Today I am making time to create.
Often when I tell people that I love to make quilts, an initial response is – “Wow – I love it but I don’t have time to do that!” – Internally I think, I don’t either, BUT it’s important to me, so I make space in my calendar. And that is really the crux of the matter – scheduling and creating space to be creative. When I haven’t had a creative session in a while – everyone around me knows and encourages me to get to the cutting mat or sewing machine.
For me, it’s essential to write it down, and commit to the hour or two without other responsibilities or interruptions. Of course, things come up and it can be rescheduled, but when I’ve committed I do my best to stick with the schedule.
How much time are you making to create? 20-minute pockets can be even more effective if a 2-hour window is elusive in your days. Using the little snippets as they arise offers more momentum day to day as well.
Cheering you on as you create –

Hi, Yes, I think people make time for doing things they want to do. Funny about when you haven’t had a creative session in a while…sewing and making something is always on my list everyday in one form or another. Somedays it gets postponed. But as I sit here today and it is raining I know I am definitely getting some sewing in today. Why not make time for something that makes you happy?
I suspect a little more discipline in my daily life would allow those 20 minute segments to be productive instead of just an exercise in moving fabric from one place to another.
