The idea that creativity is limited, that you are as creative as you will ever be is false. Increasing creativity is a perspective that I want to keep, in my creative toolbox. Creativity can (and will) ebb and flow in different areas of life. As a rule, though your creativity is growing with you as you use it!Â
Creative Affirmation
Every day, I become more creative and inventive.Â
We are all born with a unique creative viewpoint, and it is our job to nurture and grow it throughout life. This can be in your work, hobbies, or time spent with friends or family. Creative solutions to a challenge are just as creative as the quilt block made, or a painting on a canvas.
For instance, I like to find the quickest way to do simple tasks. Eliminating extra touches, to make the most of the time that I have for a task. It’s taken me a long time to recognize this as a creative act, but it is! Being creative in the way you load the dishwasher or fold a towel to fit best in the closet both count too.Â
Increasing creativity doesn’t have to be a difficult task, just recognizing all the creativity in your everyday life and knowing that more is coming makes all the difference.
This reminds me of last week’s affirmative, about creativity flowing through me constantly too.
Leave me a comment about what you have done lately to increase your creativity, I would love to know. And remember these don’t need to be life-altering tasks, small steps, and decisions lead to big changes over time.Â

My creativity last week was not intentional but was done out of necessity. It had nothing to do with quilting, but I am so happy to have the task brought current (this will be an ongoing effort). I read a lot and have a lengthy list of books to borrow from the library. Over the past six months the names of new books have been noted on multiple scraps of paper, while books read have not been removed from the list. It took time, but all the scraps are gone, completed books moved to a “finished” list, and the whole shebang has been reformatted into a much neater and user-friendly platform. I am now contemplating adding an additional category to note whether the book is available at my branch library, elsewhere in the City system, or within the State Circuit System.
