Every day I’m thankful for the constant creativity that flows through me. This doesn’t just apply to time at the sewing machine or playing with fabric, but in how I troubleshoot any process, design at the computer, interact with my kids. And so much more!
Creative Affirmation
Creativity flows through me constantly.
Acknowledging the constant creativity that flows through us is a big step in growing the creativity within. Stop and think for a minute about all the creativity that goes into each day. For instance, did you put together a great outfit this morning, cook an interesting meal, or write a thoughtful comment or email about a friend’s quilt? All of these take creative energy. So does pulling a group of fabrics for your next quilt, or deciding on the dinner menu for the next week.
Instead of thinking about how creative you aren’t, start thinking about all the ways that you are creative and be thankful.
I’m creative when:
-Designing a quilt block or quilt.
-I draw my teen into a conversation.
-Carefully select fabrics for my next quilt.
-I make room for all the glasses in my cupboard while unloading the dishwasher.
-Arrange the pillows on the couch or bed.
-I play with my cat or dog and entertain them.
-Write a caption for my Instagram photo.
-Writing a pattern with lots of how-to descriptions.
-I get dressed each day and decide on an outfit.
-I apply makeup each day.
-Tidy my studio space.
-I pack a stack of orders to be shipped out.
-Arrange flowers in a vase.
This list could go on and on! Hopefully, I’ve given you a new way to look at your creativity. It’s not just something to cultivate in our quilts, it’s in everything we do!
This week I encourage you to consider all the ways that you are creative. Consider writing a quick list, and add to it as you recognize each creative thing you do. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a finished quilt to be a creative act, celebrate your creativity in the little things you do each day. Doing so will help you to find a deeper well of creativity to draw from each day.
Drop me a comment and share a creative act that you do every day.

What an eye opener this article is for me. I have to rethink my routines and see them in a different light.
BTW, your link to this article is broken; I found it by doing a search. So glad I was creative enough to do that. : )
Thinking outside the crafting box, each day I creatively adjust my to do list to meet the demands of the day/work. On the creative side, I schedule 15 minute block each day to craft(quilt, stitch, knit or stamp).
I appreciate your post listing many non-craft ideas for creativity.
I thank you for YOUR encouragement, I’m looking forward to a visit from my BFF since Kindergarten. We’ve both lost husbands this past year and need all the support we can get. You got me to quilt again, and presently I’m making my son a vest, plus making a short list of next projects. Thank you, Amy, for all you do for us, and thanks for asking.❤️
Thank you for the creative affirmations. I look forward to your reflections and opens my heart to appreciate creativity
