*I switched my hosting last week, and lost this post in the process. I’m just glad it’s the only one!
My Wonderland Quilt has been a long time in the making! I had collected and saved a Jelly Roll, Honey Bun and Charm Pack of the group while I was writing my first book, unable to make something right away, but in LOVE with the fabrics in the collection.
I later pieced the blocks, and shared the process of making them HERE. I was between large projects, and had some free time, but not enough energy to quilt the beast on my domestic machine (before I had the longer), nor did I have cash to send it out, so it patiently waited, and waited some more. Last fall at Market my friend Mary Fons had her new collection of fabrics including her signature print in 108″ wide backing fabric. I was offered a 3 yard cut and immediately knew that it would back this quilt – It’s perfect!
I added tall ovals of quilting, it’s great texture, while still being really comfy to snuggle with, and it’s a bit whimsical, just like the rest of the quilt!
Of course this is the work of the Pro-Stitcher on my Crown Jewel – I love the two units working together! Finally I bound the edges with my favorite polka dot, teal on chocolate brown. Thankfully it was included in the Avant Garden group that Moda did last year – that also looks a lot like Wonderland – I didn’t have any left after piecing the top.
I’m so excited about this finish! It’s been my go to for snuggling since I finished it!
Happy Quilting –
Amy
