#1A recently finished quilt is now gracing the cover of American Patchwork and Quilting! This issue is due to start showing up on newsstands today, but I know some of you have gotten it in your mailbox already.
The fabrics are Modern Neutrals (of course!) and I paired two traditional blocks for a unique “Layered Look”. I also quilted this myself, with pebbles in the light areas, and a few large petals in the flowering snowball blocks.
Here’s a flat shot of the quilt – Layered Look :
Just in case you want to make the quilt for yourself with my fabrics here’s a list with fabric names and sku’s
- 2 5/8 yards Gems white 3507-24
- 1 1/4 yards Beacon grey 3502-13
- 1 1/4 yards Linked Space grey 3503-15
- 1/8 yard Fissure steele 3505-17
- 1 3/8 yards Satellite grey 3504-16
- 1 5/8 yards Gems steel 3507-20
I know Fat Quarter Shop and Gotcha Covered Quilting both have all these prints in stock at the moment, check with them or your local quilt shop for fabrics!
#2Think Big starts shipping today!
I still have free shipping on autographed copies in my shop, I’ll wait to change it until I have them in my hands. So excited to see what you create with these BIG patterns! Of course you can also add it to your next Amazon order too :)
#3 I spent a few hours of my Monday installing the Pro-Stitcher on my Crown Jewel long arm!
The Pro-Stitcher automates quilting for me, so I can piece while quilting at the same time. I’m so excited to learn the program and get those last few unquilted tops finished!
That’s my three things, I’m planning to share more about Think Big in the coming weeks, including all the quilts I made for the book. Do you have three things to share?
Thanks for stopping by –
Amy
I absolutely love “the layered look”, and I also love how you are able to create beautiful quilts out of just a few fabrics.
Amy,
I am one of those people who never look at light coloured fabrics; I immediately find the bright, blaring loud ones, i.e. Kaffe Fassett. However, this is really speaking to me & I’m going over to The Fat Quarter Shop to look & purchase.
Thank you for “the nudge” & sharing. Congratulations on your beautiful covers!
That quilt is just stunning Amy!!! Gorgeous!!! So excited for your new book and have fun with your Pro-Stitcher ;)
Congrats on being a cover girl!!
I just got my copy in the mail yesterday and instantly loved that quilt! AP&Q is my favorite magazine – been subscribed to it since I started quilting and it was also their start!! (in 1993 or 1994…can’t even remember!)
Thanks for listing the fabrics for your Layered Look quilt. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a kit available in the magazine, as I really like your fabrics!
I will look for the magazine next time I am in the store! :) It looks gorgeous on the cover :)
Amy I sent you an email awhile back…figured that you were on Thanksgiving break, though :) Hope that you had a good one.
My copy arrived today. Your quilt is gorgeous. Congrats on making the cover!
I spotted the APQ magazine today and had to have it because of the quilt on the cover. I love your fabric line. I would love to make the quilt in the same fabrics. I will check out the links you gave. Just beautiful!
:) Thank you!
Congratulations on making the cover. The quilt is just stunning.
Want to order the fabric, however, what size is this quilt. Might want to make it larger? I subscribe to the magazine, but it hasn’t come yet.
Hi Susan, In the mag it is a generous throw, but you can check out the size options that APQ put together here : http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/magazines-more/american-patchwork-quilting/layered-look-optional-size-chart
