As a creative, I’m always on the lookout for inspiration. How about you? Trusting that it will come at the perfect moment, allows me to be open and ready for whatever may come my way. And having the expectation of inspo sends the message that I’m ready for it!
Creative Affirmation
Inspiration comes to me at the perfect time.
A few things that I do consistently to be open to inspiration:
- Schedule creative time
- Get lost in a google image search
- Explore an artist that I admire
- Find a new quilt artist on Pinterest to study
- Take a walk in nature
- Take photos from different perspectives
- Meditation sessions
- Have a great sleep at night
- Paint
- Explore another creative outlet
What is on your list?
I hope that this week you will take the time to slow down and let inspo come to you. It doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment, but it does help to schedule some downtime. Being open to inspiration, and knowing that it will come at the perfect time is all that is needed.

I like the mention of downtime regarding inspiration. I love the taking photos from different perspectives. And I think being outside helps fuel creativity.. for me anyway.
I get inspired by looking through quilt books, magazines (new and old) and of course at quilts designed by all the quilting (or crafty) bloggers and newsletters I receive. I am new to quilting and have not actually made a quilt yet, but I made a table runner out of a panel and have assisted my mother-in-law with her piecing and fixed an old quilt I picked up somewhere a long time ago. I love drawing quilt blocks and putting together ideas for quilts. I am definitely not a pattern follower, but I will get patterns and figure out how to construct the blocks in the pattern and create my own quilts from that. I just haven’t put together a quilt top yet. I need to build up a stash of fabric and set up a place to really start creating them.
I also like to look at quilting books and magazines, and I spend too much time surfing quilters’ web sites in the wee hours of the morning. Less time surfing, more time quilting is one of my goals.
