Important Dates

#IGquiltfest – March 21-25, 2016

Blogger’s Quilt Festival – September 19-30, 2016

With the shift away from blogging and to Instagram (IG) for many quilters, I’ve been asked multiple times if quilters can participate from IG. In the past the answer has been no, since the linky tool requires a permalink, and link back to my site. So with the adjustments to the dates that I’m already making, I decided to focus one festival on IG and the other on Bloggers. I think this will be a lot of fun, and if you aren’t on IG already it’s much easier to set up an account there, than it is to start a blog.

When: March 21-25, 2016

What: A one week photo challenge on IG

Who: Quilters on IG

How: Use photo prompts, the #IGquiltfest hashtag, and tag me in your photos

Win: I’m currently seeking sponsors for this March, to donate prizes to ship after the event. The drawings will be random, to be eligible to win, you will need to follow the sponsor and myself.

Also: There will be a post here on my site with a photo viewer. Even if you aren’t on IG you can view all the photos and click through for the inspiration fest that is bound to happen!

Blogger’s Quilt Festival

The general premise of the Blogger’s Quilt Festival is not going to change at all, just the dates. You’ll notice I’m starting the Festival on a Monday, instead of a Friday, but we will have categories, and voting just like we have the last few years.

Each quilter may enter up to two quilts, each with it’s own post, and in separate categories. One category per quilt.

Mini Quilt Category – Quilts in this group measure no more than 80″ around.

Small Quilt Category – Quilts in this group measure more than 80″, but no more than 240″ around.

Large Quilt Category – Quilt in this group measure over 240″ around.

Applique Quilts – Hand or machine applique is welcome.

Art Quilts – Express yourself with fabric.

Hand Quilted – Quilted by hand.

Home Machine Quilted – Quilted on a domestic machine.

Modern Quilts – Modern to you, is modern to me.

Original Design Quilts – Designed by you, not a previously published quilt pattern.

ROYGBIV Quilts – Show off your rainbow.

Scrappy Quilts – Glad to have all those scraps in one beautiful place.
