Whispered Lace is the cover quilt for Modern Neutrals, and I think is a great example of the rest of the book. I had a great time mixing neutral color palettes to create a beautiful quilt!
Whispered Lace :
Whispered Lace measures 96″ x 96″.
Pieced by me – on my Baby Lock Melody.
Quilted by Natalia Bonner – with all the quilts in Modern Neutrals, I asked Natalia to keep it simple, no frills, and I love the results!
Fabrics used in Modern Neutrals were supplied by AdornIt, Andover, Cloud 9, Dear Stella, Moda, Riley Blake,Robert Kaufman, and Windham – Many thanks to my friends at each of these companies. I shared about my fabric selection and classification process in this post.

Just this week, I switched out quilts on our bed, and actually put it on the bed! Usually the quilts are busy promoting the book, but this one is too large to ship to often, and I’m so glad to have it on our bed!
How often do you switch quilts on your bed?
Let me know, and I’ll announce a winner of a copy of Modern Neutrals on Monday.
Thanks for reading!

Modern Neutrals is the featured book this month at Fat Quarter Shop, and I have autographed copies available in my book shop too.
I haven’t been quilting that long so I’ve only made one quilt for our bed. However, when we took the down comforter off the bed a bit prematurely, I stacked three lap quilts on my side for our really long spring! Super cozy and warm! Love the neutral quilts!
Right now I only have 1 quilt for our bed…..if I finished quilting all the tops I have I could put a new one on every week :)
this is so pretty. I love the pattern
I love your quilts! I have one quilt that is bed sized and it is folded at the end of the bed. Still using a comforter. My cousin however has a quilt for every season/occasion. She has a blanket holder with all the quilts which she has in order. For example the current July/summer quilt would be on the bed and on the holder she would have the next quilt up in the front. ie fall. She rearranges and visits them continuously through the year. I like the idea.
At the moment we only have one quilt that we use on our bed year round… I plan to make us another one, though!
We have a “winter” quilt that goes over our thicker duvet, and a “summer” with brighter colors, used alone in the warmer months. Also a new quilt in the works!
I have a winter quilt that goes on the bed around October. I have another quilt that goes as an extra layer on the bed anytime of year when needed. I think I need some new quilts for my bed!
I love Whispered Lace.
I don’t often change my quilts, because I don’t have any quilts yet for my bed! I have two comforters, and usually change in fall and spring. I’m working on my first king-sized sampler, and still piecing blocks for it.
I delight in, lead to I found exactly what I used to be having a look for. You’ve ended my 4 day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
I don’t change the quilt on my bed, just the one folded at the bottom. I probably change that out 6-7 times a year, as the seasons change and I need a change :). Thanks for sharing.
I only have one that’s big enough for our bed!
I don’t switch quilts too often. I have certain ones that fit certain beds just right and that works for me. That said…….I’m getting the itch to make a new quilt for our king size bed but the size keeps me from getting started! :-) Thinking that would be a good winter project and I will stay with making small quilts during this warm weather. :-) Lovely neutral quilt you’ve made!
Mine get switched at the start of each season. I’ve been quilting for twenty so years and have a few to choose from. Love the look of your book.
I think this is my fav so far! I have one quilt on my bed that my sweet sister made for me. I could switch it if I could ever finish the king size quilt that is the bedrock of my UFO pile. LOL
I don’t switch them very often because I only have a few that I use on the bed regularly. I would say that I change them out at least twice a year (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter). Thanks for the chance to win!
Beautiful quilt! I don’t have any quilts to put on my bed. Of the 27 I’ve made I’ve given them all away! I am working on a blue and yellow dresden for my husband though. :)
I change the quilts every two months. Made my first neutral quilt recently can’t wait to make more thanks for the opportunity to win your book
Kathie
My blog address is correct here! Sorry about that. Kathie
i’d like to have a quilt for every season, but right now i only have ‘winter’ done, so it’s winter year round!!!
thanks for the chance to win!
I have 2 quilts for my bed. One wool batting and one bamboo. I just took the wool one off and now only use one. those are the only 2! Now if you were to ask how often do you change your lap quilt…well, about every other week! I hate A/C (cold). I always have a quilt by my side on the couch. My quilt ladder is full of special ‘me’ quilts that either my daughter made for me or I made for myself!
I have yet to make a bed sized quilt. However, I pick my favorite lap sized quilt to lay on top of the comforter each night. I use what every my favorite of the day is. The husband gets hot quick so I just add extra quilts to mine. Sometimes in the winter there are two or three extras added :)
I change them with the seasons, so a couple of times a year.
I have three quilts currently. One is for the holidays, one is for most days, and one is my very first quilt which isn’t as strong as it should be. I save that for special times.
I’ve made several more though. A former boyfriend has one. My favorite barrista has one which was given to her when she moved to Maine. My current boyfriend has one, I have one pieced but not yet quilted for son #2 and I’m in the process of making one for son #1. There will be more in my future.
I change the quilts on my bed more with my mood than anything else. I find it’s one of the best ways to feel like you’re moving forward and keeping things fresh. There is nothing better when you are going through a tough time than switching a few things around….it just makes you feel better!
Not French enough obviously. I must need to make some more quilts. My daughter has the choice of 5, and changed very regularly, often having three out at a time. I have two for mine and I use both when it is cold but one predominately for summer and the other for spring/autumn. :)
If I had more finished quilts, I’d probably change every season, or even every month! I’m working on rectifying that…;)
Its the quilt over the chair that is important in my bedroom – the one that gets cuddled the most. And that gets changed frequently, every two months or so. It might be one of mine, or one of my grandmothers. I’ve never worked with neutrals, yet your book has me itching to dive into this new fabric frontier!
I rarely change the quilt on our bed. It’s a king sized one with a deep mattress and I only had one that fit. I just finished a second one, so I’ll be switching more often.
I have two king size bed quilts in the works, a heavy winter one and a lighter weight spring quilt. I imagine I will switch them out seasonally.
Just twice a year. None of the quilts are mine–my bed is like Grand Central. I change the wall quilts every season–a lot more fun.
This quilt is beautiful Amy!! It encourage me to make a big quilt for our king size bed. I only have quilts for my girls’ beds, and we change them at least every other month. My girls love their quilts and they drag them around the house to cuddle up in a sofa, or to make a tent :P but that’s exactly what quilts are made for, right? Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your book!! xo
So pretty. I don’t switch quilts on my bed at all…yet. Why? Because I only have the 1 at the moment that fits our king bed. So it gets washed and put right back. I do have the fabric for a special new quilt but I need the time to get it made.
Love “Whispered Lace”! I don’t have a big quilt to cover my bed. However, my daughters each have one quilt for their beds. They are summer quilts, so they get switched out when the weather turns warmer.
this is GORGEOUS. i have never made a quilt for our bed (hangs head) but i could see this one on it!!
Love this quilt! I change my quilts out with the season and love using my quilts. In the winter, I pile them on the bed (up to five or six if the house is really cold). In the summer, usually just one. I like to rotate through the quilts so they all get equal use and wear. Thanks for the chance at your great book!
