Tipsy Triangles is a pattern I designed and made for Curated Quilts. The fourth issue focused on Triangle quilts and I had a lot of fun with these improvised triangles! Our submissions included two exacting patterns made with trusty half-square triangle units, so this was a great departure.
Tipsy Triangles
The fabrics used in the quilt were provided by Robert Kaufman. Essex Yarn Dyed Homespun in Charcoal makes up the majority of the quilt, which is so soft and beautiful to work with! The triangle pieces are made from Charm Packs in the Birds of Paradise palette. I decided to add a little bit of the striped fabric in the binding to the triangles.
I love the random shapes that the triangles make when sewn together. About halfway through sewing the quilt top together, I noticed a pattern on the right side. So I decided to go with it and to add a small touch of order to the quilt topic the one column.
I quilted Tipsy Triangles with a small {parenthesis} it’s just enough texture to add to the overall design without taking away from the fun piecing. Using a planned palette and block size, makes this a fun intro to improv piecing, if you are looking for a place to start!

It just sold out over the weekend Karen! I will have the pattern available, once the rights revert to me. Hopefully in January. :)
What were the dimensions of the quilt you finished (pictured here)?
Be sure to always proofread your patterns before posting. You know what autocorrect can do. What does “I quilted Tipsy Triangles with a small (parenthses) mean?
The quilting pattern is parenthesis }{}{}{}{ alternating on their side to make a line across the quilt.
I would love to see a close-up of the quilting! I’m always looking for variations on easy walking-foot straight lines!
