Making time to let my creative self play is always a good idea! Being creative with the flexibility to get into a creative flow and enjoy the process is a critical piece of my creativity. Sometimes just making a few seams is enough to fulfill the creative desires, however, there are often times that a little play time is necessary too. I find myself playing the most when it comes to the fabrics I select for each project. What about you?

Creative Affirmation

My creative self wants to come out and play.

Admittedly, I like to develop a plan and then execute said plan, which sometimes feels too formulaic. However, when I’m open to selecting a variety of fabrics, and making a scrappy project, I can play with fabric for hours. It really just depends on the project and my approach. The quilt in the photos today is a scrappy mix of favorite fabrics that I had been saving for a fun project. Some of them had been in my stash for 10 years and others just a few months. Pulling the neutrals and brights to go with the bold stripes is my very own creative play.

What do you do to play? Perhaps pinpointing that is the first step in creating more time for your creative self. Improv is another area that I love to explore when my creative self needs a little extra time. Creating without rules or expectations is very fulfilling!
