Carefree Picnic

Carefree Picnic is the next block of the month pattern full of adorable, simple, fun to sew blocks from Inspiring Stitches. Look at how fun these blocks are! There’s a large Monitor Barn, and flowers along with cute barn cats. The quilt blocks included in the pattern are four sizes, then puzzled together for this adorable finish. But don’t worry, we’ve made it pretty simple to puzzle it together and include a layout guide to keep you sewing.

The general inspiration behind the pattern is that it’s set in the countryside where the barn cats roam, and barn quilts abound. We love sharing a picnic on a special quilt in the shade of a large barn, while enjoying nature all around us! {Note to self: schedule a picnic!}

As always our patterns are intended for the new quilter to grow with, and the experienced quilter to enjoy. The pattern can be sewn from your scrap bin, but there’s also a materials list for each block. Giving you the flexibility to add color month to month as you sew!

    My pattern should be in the mail this afternoon. I might not make 5 cat blocks as I am not a cat person. Plus I have a couple Row by Row experience blocks to fit into the quilt. One is a cute pig. Another one is a butterfly near a beautiful flower. There might be one or two more to fit in. Another hour to wait for the mailman. Happy Creating.

    I like the look of the block in the bottom right; the colors catch my eye a bit more than the green/lime combo or the peach/coral. Although I love the complexity of the block, I don’t think I would make it as I stick to simple designs like the red or blue whirligigs. I don’t trust my craftsmanship that much, but enjoy viewing others.

    I love this pattern. I am always looking for new sewing and quilting projects. I will have to add this one to my list. As I love how the colors pop.
