I posted my Comfort Quilt being made, and many of you sewed along with me. I did not post my finish here though! My Comfort Quilt was shared on Instagram and Facebook, but I like to have a record of each finished quilt.
The Comfort Quilt
I loved making this quilt again. I don’t often make the same quilt more than once, but this one is easily a favorite! Mixing all the background fabrics in the blocks makes for a lot of cutting. But I love the variety.
Quilting
When I was ready to quilt it, I opted to use a marigold color thread. Yellow has been a favorite color lately, and it’s mixed in throughout the quilt. So that the quilting thread didn’t overwhelm the piecing, I did simple (random) diagonal lines. This is a quilting design that I made myself and have used often. It’s an easy all-over pattern that doesn’t distract from the piecing.
Fabrics
The backing fabric, is from Alexander Henry. I found it on clearance at Joann, and knew it was destined to be a quilt back. At the time I didn’t have a project for it, but had to have it and bought 4 yards! For this quilt it is the perfect mix of color and crazy. HA!
The binding is a stripe from Robert Kaufman, in black and white. My original fabric selections were hot colors, with a pop of black and white. The stripe is the perfect finishing touch.
You can learn more about my fabric selection process here.
