Heartland Heritage — September

In the month of September for the Heartland Heritage pattern we are making the Willow Tree block! I love that simple patchwork can make such a cute Willow Tree.

Willow Tree

This is a fun block with room for lots of personalization! With fall on the horizon, I was temped to make this block in yellow and orange, but had fun with the greens in my Wanderlust collection.  The variety of half-square triangle units, make it easy to interchange with the colors that you want you use in your blocks. And — it’s great for scraps!

The Willow Tree block has very specific pressing instructions after you’ve sewn all the half-square triangle units. These were written so that you can easily nest seams as you continue to stitch the block. Nesting all those seams definitely makes the process more smooth. I love it when that works out!

We’d love to see your Willow Tree blocks over on the Inspiring Stitches blog! Each month we have a link collector set up to showcase your blocks, it’s so fun to see everyone’s fabric choices!

Also visit Heather over at The Sewing Loft to learn more about her fabric choices.
