Heather and I have been working hard on new products for Inspiring Stitches! I’m excited to share a finished quilt and our 2019 pattern — Sew Hometown.
Sew Hometown
This quilt is full of whimsy with it’s adorable blocks. Can you spot the birdhouse, and butterflies? My favorite blocks always have some pretty pinks in them. We even pulled in a bit of improvisation, in a really easy way!
And lots of illustrations to walk you through the process. If you are sewing Heartland Heritage with us right now, you might be excited to know that there are a lot less HST units in this quilt. This wasn’t a conscience decision, but since working on the pattern it’s a notable difference.
Compare & Contrast
Looking at the quilts side by side highlights the uniqueness of the pattern. I love that each quilt is specific and special to each maker!
Heather and I have both made a sample quilt, and I love seeing them next to each other this way! Heather used a bright white solid background (right). While my quilt on the left, I used a mix of creams and whites for my background fabric, all prints.

Beautiful! Now I wish I would have done this quilt. I had so many projects going I passed on this one. Completely unrelated, what is the name of the fabric that is the backing on your comfort quilt?
I love the new quilt,I just ordered the pattern. I’m not sure I will be able to join in but I’m hoping that happens, it is beautiful! I have a bit of a mental block against basic patchwork so I really want to work on some projects to overcome that mindset. Give me some foundation paper piecing or applique and I’m right at home.
Hi Joan! Basic patchwork can be so relaxing to me – I hope you’ll join us!
Would this quilt pattern work for a really new beginner? Such as a very first quilt? It is so pretty,
