We are in the home stretch of the Comfort Quilt quilt-along and I’m excited to see the quilts come together! Let me know where you are in the process in the comments below.
Week seven Check in:
I caught up!
I sewed 30 large and 60 small blocks over the course of the week. I’m so glad to be caught up! Chain piecing is a huge part of my process. As I stitch each block I keep the pieces in order, and move through them. I don’t find myself trying to match up pieces as I work this way. I can just keep sewing.
Not being up quite as early as usual during the school year, I’ve taken advantage of a few late evenings. I’ve also been binge watching The Crown on Netflix while I sew. The history included in the show is intriguing.
Week eight
I hope seeing the quilt tops online is encouraging and fun for you to see! Motivation takes many forms, and watching all of you sew your blocks and tops is very encouraging to me.
This week we need to:
- Piece negative space rows.
- Layout quilt top.
- Sew blocks and rows of negative space into a complete quilt top.
Be sure to use the #ComfortQuiltQAL hashtag on all your posts so that everyone can find you. It’s a fun way to interact as we sew!
Have questions about the quilt-along? I’d love to help! Leave a note in the comments and I’ll answer there so everyone can benefit.
Happy Quilting ~
Amy

Thank you for doing this qal! I’d been wanting to make this quilt and the qal was the inspiration I needed! So much fun
Hi Amy, I am making the queen size quilt. When I add up the rows I get 78″. Are there more rows or should there be more negative space? The finished size indicated is 96″ in length, right?
Thank you,
Julie
Hi Julie! Look for the layout guide in the downloads to make sure you have all the blocks and rows placed for the length.
Thanks!
I am doing the baby size. Where do I find out how to lay it out? How many blocks and where?
