Applique Blocks & Travel Photos

Last week our family went on a road trip. We rented a van, packed the tent, gear and kids up and headed north! I knew Joe would do most of the driving, so I made sure to bring my appliqué that I’ve been working on.

I have been loving working on these, but found over the course of the week I barely stitched one block! There was just too much to see, and too many people to manage to really enjoy stitching. So I didn’t, and it was great! Being in the moment, and enjoying the time with my family was just what I needed.

Here’s some highlights from Yellowstone National Park, I’m always amazed at the diversity of terrain within the park.

Old Faithful  – the wind was strong, and we got misted by the geyser.

After spending a couple days exploring Yellowstone and all the thermal features, we drove north again and went to Glacier National Park. What we could see of the park was beautiful, unfortunately the week before dry lightning started a number of wildfires in the Pacific northwest and we were ensconced in smoke for our entire visit. Here’s a few highlights from Glacier:

The view at Lake McDonald near the west entrance. The smoke gave a sepia tone to most of our photos.

The closer views were more visible, and beautiful.

Half way up the Going to the Sun road – the river and road are where we started at the bottom.

The river was pretty, and the waters so clear.

I love seeing all the moss in the forest too.

Now the kids are just back to school and I’m getting caught up and ready for the busy Quilt Market season, and a few other fun things!

I hope you are having a great day –

Amy

Amy, I love your photos of Yosemite and Glacier (even if there was some smoke)! We drove West a few years ago (from Maine) and loved all the National Parks we visited. We took the little park van to the top of the Going to the Sun road, and there was snow everywhere in July. I seem to recall a snowball down a back :) Love the baby moose!! Thanks for all the great memories you’ve brought back!
