Hi all! Today’s featured quilter is Wiesia
– a quilter from Poland! I love that the Blogger’s Quilt Festival crosses the oceans and international boundaries. Wiesia
is relatively new to quilting, and has some beautiful quilts to share with us, also be sure to check out her blog Quilt & Smile
. I hope you enjoy getting to know Wiesia
1. When did you begin quilting?
I started making small quilted projects (pillows, table toppers etc. ) three years ago. My first lap quilt I’ve done last year.
2. Why do you quilt?
Last year I spent a lot of time learning how to quilt and I love it! Free motion quilting is my favorite part of quilt making. Now I’m working on Farmer’s Wife Sampler – and it’s a great opportunity to learn different piecing techniques.
3. What is your favorite quilting tip?
My favorite quilting tip is Cindy’s Needham “divide and conquer”.
Talking about Fall at the Potomac River Quilt
(above) – it’s funny story… Inspiration was a charm pack (Kansas Troubles, as I recall) . I had one and I loved fabrics and colors. I was looking for pattern containing 5”x5” squares (or 2,5” x2,5”), because I didn’t want to cut those lovely little squares. I added some fabrics from my stash – and here it is!
5. Do you sew other things?
My mom taught me how to sew clothes and I can do this. But now I mostly quilt (perhaps because I don’t look as good in dresses as I use to twenty years ago ;-))
6. Anything else you would like us to know about you?
Some more about me – I love gardening and knitting, I love my family ( my two sons are all grown up now) and I’m happy quilter!
Thanks for sharing Wiesia! Your quilting is beautiful!
Have a great weekend –
