There seems to be NO shortage of amazing new books to add to our quilting libraries! Today’s review is for Imagine Quilts by my friend Dana Bolyard of Old Red Barn Co., she’s taking everyday inspiration (including your fabric!), and showing you how her brain works, to make those ideas into beautiful quilts!

Imagine Quilts -

I love Dana’s voice throughout the book, and the 11 patterns that she’s included are fresh and unique. Her cover quilt, Posy Patrol, is a fun pattern full of gorgeous prints, both bright and muted tones. Ampersand is a great bold pattern, using beautiful solids, and inspiration to look around you for your own graphic quilt.

Imagine Quilts -

I love some of the different ideas and techniques Dana uses too! Using a dresden wedge to make this inspired quilt :

Imagine Quilts -

And the photography is really fun – they used a barn to stage a lot of the pictures, with rich warm browns.

Imagine Quilts -

To win a copy of Imagine Quilts ebook –

Leave me a comment telling me what you are working on this week!

I’ll select a winner on Friday, September 26th, 2014.

Good luck!

A major design challenge. My husband asked for a quilt and I was thrilled. I’ve made Many quilts but never one just for him. However, he announced he wanted a pirate quilt, of course not a juvenile pirate quilt but an adult one. He is 65. I’ve been pulling fabrics and design elements to come up with something that will represent him and this theme. So far, I’m leaning toward using at least one Mariners compass and not sure about other elements. Very fun though and creative. I love the challenge.
