hi – my name is Amy

I’ve been so reclusive here – I felt the need to introduce myself again!

I’m a wife & mom.

I’m a sewist & quilter.

I’m an author & designer.

I’m a blogger & podcaster.

I love being and doing all these different things, but there have been a lot of challenges in the area of balance, lately! I know you can relate, we all seem to live in one state of busyness or another. This summer this space was at the bottom of my list of priorities, but I’m coming out of hiding, and plan to share lots in the coming weeks!

My kids started back to school last week, it was bittersweet as usual – I love having them home with me, but also appreciate the quiet that settles over the house while they are busy learning. And so, I’ve been working on getting back into my normal routines. Replying to emails, writing articles, and sewing more during the day, instead of late at night.

Quiltcast will be back soon!

I’ve been updating parts of my blog that were out of date, like my schedule, and Blogger’s Quilt Festival dates, and have a few more changes planned.

Finally, I finished my hand appliqué piece that I shared earlier this summer —

I absolutely loved stitching on this piece! I have room for improvement on my corners and prep work, but overall, I’m very pleased with the outcome! After hand appliquéing the pieces to the background – they fabrics melt together as you sew – I hand quilted it with perle cottons.

I’ve been collecting the perle cotton threads for a while, and use them occasionally. Digging through drawers of notions and thread for the perfect color is so fun!

I honestly can’t wait to start another hand appliqué project! I have the pattern, and hope to start a block or two soon.

What are you working on this week?

Thanks for stopping by – Amy

Love the hand work. I am very slowly working on an EPP quilt using Liberty fabrics, it will take a while. x
