This & That

I’m working on a little of this, and a little of that lately. Friends at AdornIt asked for a quilt (in a hurry) with these sweet prints, and thankfully I had just the project in my files already! I cut it out in an hour, yesterday, and look forward to sewing it up this week.

Crazy for Daisy by AdornIt -

Last week I was having fun sewing up a new table runner pattern! It will be a free pattern available next month via Baby Lock. I’ll let you know when the pattern goes live!

I wanted to show the versatility of the pattern, and sewed it up twice, and I’m still trying to decide which is my favorite.

With the cooler weather here in the mountains (we had our first snow last week!), I’ve been trying out crockpot recipes instead of grilling all the time. Last week I made this Honey Garlic Chicken – so good! Our oldest always likes the variety of food my  husband and I like to experiment making, but the younger three are a little more picky. I’m determined to explore and expand their flavor intake this year, and making them try it all. Everyone at the Honey Garlic Chicken, but for the younger three I didn’t sauce the chicken after shredding.

Last night I made Curried Pork – again so good! Another keeper to add to my collection, but one of the three just had one bite, then I scrambled some eggs for her. Maybe if I had taken the time to remove all the sauce, she would have been more inclined, but it wasn’t worth the effort, and three eggs has more protein than a few bites of pork.

Do you have a favorite crockpot recipe? I’d love a link! I figure it’s the best way to feed my family, and meet my deadlines :)

More soon –

If you go to mixandmatchmama on BlogSpot, she has a slow cooker section (on the right side pretty far down) and on every Monday she puts out several recipes. 95% of what I’ve made has been delicious. (I sometimes just needed more spice.) I am 51 and have a 23 year old son. I loved to cook. My mom’s rule was that we had to eat two bites of everything she fixed. There were no exceptions. None. (Get the point?) She did not want us going to someone’s home and saying we wouldn’t eat something! Anyway, that was my rule. Our son got cereal if he didn’t want what was for dinner after his two bites. I never fixed a separate meal. Now our son will eat many, many more things than I’ll touch! Good luck!

    Hi Amy,

You’re a busy, busy woman! I’ll be watching for the table runner pattern. :)

I have a great, kid-friendly, crock pot recipe on After you pull up the Web site, just search for Flank Steak with Gravy. There are several flank steak results that will show. Click on the one posted by Pam K. (that’s me!).
