Featuring Allie — A Bloggers’ Quilt Festival Quilter!

Today’s feature is Allie from allie – oops sweet happy life!  Allie is a fun lady that always has an encouraging word.  I hope you enjoy getting to know Allie more —

1. When did you begin quilting?

In earnest, probably 10 years ago. Hard to keep track when your children have pilfered all of your brain cells.

2. Why do you quilt?

I quilt because it keeps my universe spinning. And because nobody else in this house uses fabric – I know it won’t walk away

[unlike all the pencils, staplers, and screwdrivers around here].
3. What was your most recent fabric purchase?

A pretty boring one, actually – I had to run out for some black fabric for a binding, and actually found the exact same black fabric I’d already used in the quilt. How often does that happen???

4. What is your favorite quilting tip?

Hmmm…probably the one that says learn the rules of technique, do them well, then break them and do your own thing!

5. What was your inspiration for your Quilt Festival quilt?

My inspiration for Lemon Tree was the fabric. I had won it in a give-away, and as soon as I saw it, I knew what I’d make!

6. Do you sew other things?

Sometimes – there are so many cute patterns out there, so even though I have trouble following patterns, I do try when something really catches my eye!

7. Anything else you would like us to know about you?

Well, I would like to share a project I’m currently having fun with – Christmas Through The Year. It’s a club that you can pop in and out of, no signing fees – we make one gift per month for our Christmas stash, to avoid the end-of-year-panic. Anyone who makes a gift that month is entered into that month’s give-away. Every month I share a Christmas movie suggestion, and links to tutorials to give you ideas. Everyone welcome!

Thanks Amy, I’m honored and humbled to be featured on your blog. You are one of my biggest heroes in blogland!

Awww – Thanks Allie!  And thanks for sharing here with us!

I hope you all have a great weekend – I’m hoping to get to my sewing machine still.
