New Book

Hi there!  I spent the morning wondering around blogs and cleaning up the house, and a few other must do chores around the house.  I have to say I love my “next” button!  I get overwhelmed when I go to my reader, but when I hit “next” it just takes me where there’s a new post.  No need to be overwhelmed!

Over the weekend, we went down to Salt Lake as a family, just to dink around somewhere other than our house.  I’m sure Joe was done listening to my sewing machine too!  We went in and out of little shops at Trolley Square and happened to come across Tabula Rasa.  Upscale paper/stationary store, not my usual shop but the window displays were beautiful and inviting.  We spent all of 2 minutes in there before the kids were done, I soaked up the colors and prints, I also found a book, and told Joe it looked interesting.  He asked me where and was ready to buy it for me – love him!

It’s not a brand new book (printed in 2005) but Cath Kidston’s in print, is a great resource for incorporating fabric into all areas of my home, not just my quilts.
Cath Kidston’s In Print: Brilliant Ideas for Using Vintage Fabrics in Your Home

And now I’m thinking I need to work on a girly quilt – all the florals in the book are beautiful!  Look at the framed fabric –

Or the chair made new again with fabric –

Maybe this is the reason for all the primping around the house today….

Where else have you used fabric in your home?

**Also, a few of you asked, and so, I spent some time yesterday making pdf’s available of all the quilt-along posts.  I have them in the shop for $1.00 for each week.  Mostly because of the time involved in it all.  I was going to lump posts together, but it was going to be too big.  I will add week 8 after I post about sashing, and finishing the quilt top next week.

Come back tomorrow, I have a giveaway planned!

What a cool book! Thanks for sharing it with us! I was thinking that I may frame pieces of the fabrics that I have left from my quilt to match in our bed room. I have plans to make some more table runners and some things for the bathroom with Fabric, I am also looking for creative ideas to make a curtain, or not so curtain for my sewing room. I have finished the top of my dresden center piece, and bought fabrics for something autumny, perhaps table runner and napkins or placemats, not sure yet, but lots of plans for after our quilts are sashed and finished, which i cant wait for either! I am excited to start putting things together. I have to finish up my last blocks, perhaps tonight. and then make sure all of my blocks are the same size, I found a 12.5 inch square ruler at Michaels so I think I may pick that up to make things easier!

That chair is gorgeous. I’ll have to see if my library has that book!

So happy to hear the sampler quilt-along will be available in PDFs! I haven’t kept up but really want to make this one in the upcoming months.

I’ve seen this book, but never had a peak inside. So beautiful! I’ve used fabric for valances and tablecloths in our kitchen. We really need new cushions for our kitchen chairs, which I should make, but I don’t feel like it… yet. I’ve also scattered mini quilts on the nightstands in our bedrooms, which adds a nice touch in each room.

oooh, pretty feminine florals! I need to make pillows for our sofas and start the quilt for the bedroom… but recent developments have delayed this endeavor.

Have a wonderful day… big hugs!

There is fabric everywhere in my house. I’m constantly making pillows, there are the curtains, some tablecloths… But mostly my stash counts as decorations, right?
