Happy Friday!
I am one of many contributors to Martingale’s new I Love Star Blocks book that released earlier this month. There’s 16 beautiful quilts included in the book, and lots of eye candy!
The cover shows some of the variety of projects included in the book. Traditional to modern fabric selections give it a nice overall appeal for any quilter.
Woven Star
Woven Star is my contribution! It’s a perfect twin size quilt at 72″ x 90″ with just 9 blocks to piece!
I had a lot of fun selecting the perfect shades of blue to add depth to the stars, and setting them in a sea of grey. It’s a classic star with my modern twist, I’m always hoping to inspire the traditional quilter to try something a little bit different.
Woven Star is quilted with a digital wavy line pattern that has pebbles on one side. I set it up so that they made the cool shape by meeting at the widest point.

I just finished my first star quilt. It was a sailor star.
My favorite is a feathered star wall hanging. I enjoyed making this, but have no desire to do another!
My favorite was a sawtooth star baby wuiltvmade in greens and blues, parting with it was very difficult!
I made an Ohio star Christmas quilt .
I’m working on a hunter’s star quilt now.
I am gearing up to make a lemoyne star quilt for my bed. It’s so hard to take the time to make something for myself but it’s high time I had a quilt on my bed!
My favorite star quilt is a friendship star where the center of each block is signed by the block’s maker. I participated in a block swap years ago with a group of quilting friends on IRC (remember IRC?) and the quilt has all their names inside the stars. It’s a great reminder of the time I spent chatting online with that group!
My favorite is a combo of stars and log cabins. It’s not quilted yet though!
Ohio star is my fav
I love the friendship star but haven’t made it yet. My favorite that I have made is a Mariner’s Compass Star. Thanks for the giveaway!
I enjoy all the variations of the mariners compass which to me is a star. My second is the heavenly star (it is usually shown on Christmas scenes
above the manger).
I made a scrappy Ohio Stars quilt with a friend a couple of years ago. It was a favorite quilt and maybe time to make another.
Ohio Star is my favorite forever,
My favorite was a Friendship Star for a quilt for my Friend! Thanks for sharing!
I haven’t made many star quilts, but I did make a cute big Ohio Star baby quilt. I guess I need to win this book so I can make some more! Your quilt is great! Love the transparency look of the stars and also like that it would be a nice quilt for a boy or girl!
I was in a BOM that featured all kinds of different stars and we did it in a a rainbow colorway. Turned out really lovely and it’s my favorite quilt at the moment! Thanks for sharing the great giveaway.
I made the fat quarter shop layer cake pop which I love. I am planning to make a Tula Pink star quilt although I haven’t decided on the design yet.
The moment I saw Christa Watson’s Improv Star block, I knew I wanted to make it! I made a total of 9 large blocks which was just enough for a baby quilt. It turned out so sweet and it sits patiently waiting for a grandbaby boy to give it to! Congrats on your new book, Amy, and I hope it is greatly successful!
My favorite to date is my version of a quilt Barbara Brackman posted on her site a few years ago called Checkered Past 1862. It’s throw size and so soft and comfy to snuggle under. I hand quilted that particular one. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
I’m working on a English Paper Piecing 60 degree diamond star quilt. I love EPP!! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
Cool! I love a scrappy star quilt I made years ago from Northern Wind variation blocks.
I love love love your woven star pattern!
Amazingly, I’ve only made a couple of sawtooth star blocks before. I should expand my start repertoire!
Just finished making a stack of wonky stars! All in batiks-it will be made into a quilt soon!
My favourite has been star in star or double sawtooth block.
I love the Ohio star block! Always looks classy whatever the colors..
I chose two star blocks from the book Modern Blocks and made a quilt using Christmas fabrics. It turned out awesome! Just received my 1st issue of Curated Quilts today…sew much information to digest and challenge me to be more creative. Thanks for the efforts to bring this quilt journal about.
I have made a scrappy Wonky Star quilt and made many star blocks for several bee quilts that I have been a part of. I have stars in my 4 Things Quilt and in my Wonkyville quilt. Stars are s versatile.
I love star blocks and marvel at the varieties. I admire your ability to modernize a traditional design.
One of my favorite quilts I’ve made (and this one I kept for me!) was simple 2.5″ blocks, sewn together into a 25 patch block. I took care to use the fabrics that were drenched in color, and I put one simple 2.5″ block in there with a different color – either white or a color opposite those in the rest of the block for my star. I used that same color to make the points of the star in the 4 sides touching the main block. Its gorgeous to the eye, and on top of that I used some primitive echo hand quilting on the outline of the main star block in a different color. The quilt looks luxurious and I am so glad I kept it for me – 98% of what I make I give away.
My favorite star quilt is a star in a star variation (sorry -not sure of the name of it). Made with Robyn Pandolph fabrics in tan, sage green and dark red.
I haven’t made too many star quilts, although I love scrappy and vintage
looking stars.
I made a wonky star quilt and would love to make other ones.I.
I made a wonky star quilt for my daughter’s kindergarten teacher 2 years ago. The center of each star was a 5″ square decorated by each student!
