Pineapple Blocks

These Pineapple blocks were so fun to make, and I love the bright yellow that I selected to go in my quilt! Traditionally a Pineapple block is paper-pieced, however, with the Pineapple Trim Tool we are able to piece without the paper and square up as we go!

If you haven’t seen this project yet – The Bella Skill Builder over at Fat Quarter Shop is a fun sampler pattern that we are sewing month by month, by my friend Sherri McConnell, and today is the third installment! The quilt has a little bit of everything in it – so it’s definitely a skill builder.

Next month, I’ll have to share my blocks made so far together!

A few tips:

  • Read all the instructions for this block before, and as you work. There’s a few ways to use the ruler for trimming and you don’t want to get confused and make the wrong cut.
  • There’s a lot of trimming for this method. Keep your cutting mat clear, and start with a fresh rotary blade if you haven’t changed it recently.
  • Pick up your Pineapple Trim Tool, making these blocks without it isn’t really an option, but I can see many more fun projects using it too!
  • Have fun!

Happy Quilting – Amy

PS – I opened up a few quilting spots HERE if you have a quilt that’s ready for quilting!
