I was commissioned by my sister to make a new baby boy quilt for one of her friends having a baby! Of course, a new baby needs a new quilt, just for him! I started with a few Layer Cake pieces that were left over from another project, and selected the palette to be used.

It’s a collection of navy, aqua, grey, black, white and a touch of yellow, laid out in staggered bricks. It was quick and  simple to piece into rows – measuring 45″ square it’s perfect to go everywhere with baby, and be a playmat too!

I like to personalize baby quilts with their name and birthdate, and with time being of the essence, I headed to my local quilt shop with a design ready to load onto the Destiny, and happily watched it stitch out his name in about 10 minutes flat!

I quilted it with an arrows all over design. I’ve used it before, but this time I adjusted the scale up quite a bit, and had it quilted in a few short hours. Then I trimmed and bound it by machine so that it can go through the wash countless times!

I love the texture that the quilting adds. You can see in this picture that I had one brick in a solid white fabric, for the embroidery, near the bottom.

I hope you are having a great day –
