Modern Heritage Quilts is widely available now, and I want to share all of the quilts with you! This sweet baby quilt, Mingle, was expertly piece by my friend Mary Kolb – a BIG thank you to her for helping me to meet my deadlines!

I designed this minimal block to make a star when four blocks are set together as in the quilt shown, but there are lots of different layout options. Try something new! This little stunner makes for a sweet baby gift and can easily be sized up for you too. Use a limited, colorful group of fabrics or an entire rainbow of scraps — either way is perfection!

Mingle is paper pieced for precision, without precise cutting. I find it much easier to trim away excess instead of trying to cut and sew on the bias. I would consider this to be an easy paper piecing project thou – great for a new paper piecer.

While I love the star shape, I love looking at the varied backgrounds too. I think that mixing up the backgrounds is a fun way to add interest to your quilts, and can help use up your stash too! Just look for a similar undertone in all the fabrics you wish to use in the same areas so that there is some continuity.

Signed copies of Modern Heritage Quilts are available in my shop, or you can pick it up on Amazon, or Shop MartingaleMartingale always offers a free e-book with purchase if you can’t wait to look through the entire book. I’ll be sharing more quilts throughout the month!

Happy Quilting ~
