I’ve had so much fun sewing blocks for The Splendid Sampler! If you aren’t familiar with the project, there’s a few places to get involved, first is the website, where all the block patterns are released, and second is the Facebook group – there’s over 20,000 quilters working on these blocks in the group!

I’ve been trying to keep up with the project as much as possible, and love having a little block to stitch when I have an hour in my sewing room! Next month my block will be released and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s fabric choices – it’s amazing how different one block can look!

These are some of my finished blocks, I’ve had fun making them from my scraps, and random charm pack purchases.

Here’s all my Splendid Sampler blocks together. It was great to get a look at them together, and see what colors I need more or less of in the next few blocks. As you can see there’s blocks of all sorts included in the project – appliqué, simple patchwork, paper piecing, and embroidery – with 100+ blocks, it’s ok to skip a couple, but it’s also a great chance to try something that you haven’t before! The group is full of encouragement and helpful tips for some of the more challenging blocks, so don’t let the “hard stuff” keep you from exploring!

I’m off to pack some patterns and maybe cut some fabric for the next block – xo
