Lines By Design Quilts :: Review & Giveaway

Lines by Design Quilts is by my friend Debbie Grifka of Esch House Quilts – I always love seeing Debbie and her new patterns at Market, and was so excited when she revealed to me that she was in the process of writing this beautiful book.

Lines by Design Quilts by Debbie Grifka - AmysCreativeSide.com

Included in the book are 17 original and stunning projects! Debbie organized the book by shape and has included projects large and small, some are simple and others are more complex – there’s something for everyone, and the typeface is complementary to the style of quilts too!

I didn’t get very far in looking through the book, before I was smitten – Slats is a collection of pillow patterns.

I told Debbie that I couldn’t wait to make all four, but for today, I’ve just made my favorite.

Here’s a couple more favorite quilts from the book –

Epicenter – I love the way your eye keeps moving around this quilt, and the gradient tones of blue.

Road Work – I just love the big circles and bright colors in this quilt. Debbie walks you through appliqué for this project, in case you aren’t ready for curves yet!

I have a class gift quilt in the works for my daughter’s kindergarten teacher, a wedding gift for my niece (who got married last fall), a quilt for my daughter, and a pile of fabrics pulled for a quilt for me and for my little guy! phew- I’m worn out just typing that :)

I just finished a huge queen Quilt for my niece to gift to her mother. The Quilt is made from my deceased BIL’s shirts. I have arranged the squares of shirt fabrics so that they show a phrase that my SIL and BIL said to one another since they were dating utilizing the Braille alphabet. I had enough leftovwr fabrics to surprise my niece and her brother with a pillow each to remember their dad. My next project is to finish a 30 year Quilt top from my MIL.

I have two quilts I’m working on at the moment – a Libs Elliott “Weight of Love” and the other is “Chic Country” by Sew Kind of Wonderful. This admittedly is odd for me – I love reading quilt books and looking at patterns and then usually go and do my own thing using ideas and techniques I’ve garnered from the books.
(Do not ask how many quilts are waiting to be basted and quilted though ;-)
