I’ve been quietly stitching on a few different projects here, including this great dresden pillow from It’s Sew Emma!
I love how simple the dresden’s are to put together – all straight lines to be sewn here – and how complex they look.
I opted to hand appliqué my dresden in place, since I could do so while hanging out with the family on the couch. You can certainly machine appliqué it in place too!
I added the tiniest bit of quilting, but love how it makes the piecing pop!
You can pick up a kit to make your own Sundance Dresden Pillow here, or just the pattern here. There’s also a fun youtube video, if you are new to dresden’s here – seriously you should try it! I used my own Serenity fabrics, and love the soft and subtle color shifts within the dresden.
Check out what these quilters made with the Sundance Dresden Pillow too!

It was interesting to see this block in more subtle colors!
As always, your work is beautiful. I love that you worked on this while with your family. Long ago I did the same type of thing and I have many wonderful memories.
Oh how I love your fabrics, Amy – can’t wait to get my hands on some. They are so gorgeous, and I love the look of the old fashioned block with the mod fabrics. Also, you did a really good job on your appliqué – I’m impressed – haven’t mastered that skill yet…
Cute pillow! Love the fussy cut center!
This is a fun version of a Dresden!
