I hope you all are ready to start stitching! Connections is the most detailed of the three blocks in our quilt top, and one of my favorites to make. Once you have everything cut, plan on an hour or so to make each block. For ease of sewing, double check your 1/4″ seam allowance before you get started, all those little pieces can make things a bit more challenging if your seam allowance is too big or small.

I finished my four blocks, the other night and couldn’t wait to share them here! On the photo I’ve listed the number of each piece, and how many strips to cut from a full WOF to make these four blocks. Go to page 12 of Think Big, and fill in the blanks to get started! If you are cutting from fat quarters, layer cakes, or scrap pieces the number of strips will be less important to you. Just be sure that you have enough of each piece cut.

While there are a lot of pieces, the piecing is pretty straight forward. My most helpful tip, is to fold a slight crease into the center of your triangles (A,B), and rectangles (K,L), so that you have a point to match before sewing. This way your squares are sure to be square, after you’ve sewn both sides to the rectangle.

Take time to make sure that you are pressing as instructed, and make sure all the pieces are going in the right direction. I like to layout these blocks as I’m stitching all the pieces together and make sure that I have everything where I want it.
