    Hi Ladies-
I really enjoy the podcast. I thought I would share the gift we gave to our bell director at church. He is getting some locally made goat soap in a wonderful manly scent and a fun pair of dress socks.
    Have a wonderful Christmas!

My hubby says the favorite gift I made for him was an insulated lunch bag with place for cold pack. A pocket for his sandwiches where they would not get squished. A pocket for his drink …. I use faux laminate fabric in a leather print (oil cloth) for the outside but any masculine fabric would do. I made several that year.

I have given up subscriptions to all magazines except for F&P as that comes with the DVDs of the tv series… I find they have all magazines have gotten too repetitive in there designs… If I see one more pattern with monkey wrench I am going to spit…. I also dislike how they only use one collection of fabric for a quilt… mainly to sell that line of fabric . The quilts made from just one collection usually are low contrast, mish -mass that do nothing to high-light the patterns.

I do buy magazine from my quilt guild magazine sale as they only cost a quarter and the money goes to the guild. Many of these magazines are donations and are older. I tear out what I want and put in plastic sleeves into three ring binders then recycle the rest of the magazine.

I did just get a subscription to MACHINE QUILTING UNLIMITED since I just learned to FMQ last year ( on my domestic machine) and I want to kick it up a notch.

I also wanted to mention I dislike the magazines that highlight what is going on in the “quilt world / business life style.” THE trend started with now defunct QUILTER;s HOME and is currently seen in THE QUILT SHOW magazine. As much as I love TQS dvds and shows … I find the magazine just a rehash and very boring.

Nonnie… I guess I am becoming a crabby old lady… or just wiser with my money…

I love Zinio on my iPad as my magazine reader. (Zinio for my iPhone just doesn’t work well because of the sizing for text and pictures.) Anyway, I can purchase APQ, Inspirations, HomeSpun, Mollie Makes, Stitch…and more.
And my HP Photosmart air printer basically prints out any pattern in these magazines. No copies scattered about or pages torn from magazines to file. Why do we still have these magazines? For inspiration! And so I am still purchasing the above magazines but in a better format for me.
