Hi there! I’ve been quilting for a deadline, but also excited to share my first block – test block if you will, for this quilt-along! Moda Lissa has a beautiful quilt pattern inspired by an antique quilt in the current issue of American Patchwork & Quilting, and there’s a group of us quilting-along.

I just found it on my newsstand yesterday, so if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t give up! My rural little town, is kinda slow to distribute, and you might be in the same predicament. If it’s not available where you live, you might check out the digital copy too!

This is my test block, which I almost always make before starting a whole project. Especially if I’m making someone else’s pattern. It helps me familiarize myself with the pattern, and check that I have the color placement right. I might make one more, and exchange the dark gray and blue bits – I’m still deciding, if you have any thoughts on the matter.

Up next, I’m planning to cut strips, instead of squares, for strip piecing, and streamline the piecing. It goes together easily! If you aren’t quilting along yet, start pulling fabrics and get started, this is a great pattern for your favorite scraps! I have a list of other bloggers also making this pattern in different color options here, and there’s a pinterest board here. Be sure to follow along!
