Hi there! Today my friends at Moda are hosting a fun hop to celebrate books!
One of the first quilting books that I learned to quilt from, is The Simple Joys of Quilting by Joan Hanson and Mary Hickey. I even photographed it with one of my earliest quilts, that I made for our Emmalie as a baby.
My most favorite book is always the most recent one that I worked on :)
Autographed copies of Modern Neutrals are available in my bookshop or on Amazon.
Visit the Moda blog to learn about more great books and a giveaway!
Do you have a favorite quilting book?
Thanks for stopping by –
Amy
I love your Modern Neutrals book. Thanks.
I don’t really have a favorite in spite of having more than a few. Thank you for showcasing your favorites.
I’ve got my eye on your book, actually! Other faves right now are Lucie Summers Quilt Improv, and Brioni Greenberg Quick Projects with Jelly Rolls. The former is a way of life, and just very inspiring, and the latter is probably the only book about precuts I’ve ever been blown away by and it has lots of practical info.
Your book looks wonderful, very appealing cover. My go to book is any by Harriet Hargreave. Her directions are always accurate and complete. I seem to be moving in the direction of modern quilts because I love their clean crisp lines.
Modern Neutrals is on my Amazon wish list. :) I’m sure it will be a favourite!
I have had lots of favourite books but I guess the book I made the most quilts out of wins, being Ursula Reikes Easy as ABC baby quilt books, as her patterns are easy to read and I have made lots of great baby quilts for gifts from it.
I’ve been admiring your book “Modern Neutrals” – neutrals are so fascinating to me with all their subtlety.
Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite quilt book is Quilts from The Quilt Maker’s Gift. There are 20 traditional patterns in the book with a second version of the book with another 19. The books begin with easier patterns and get progressively more challenging. I’d love to make every one of them.
I have two favorites, one for traditional quilts and another for more modern EPP quilts. My first favorite book is “Quilts, Quilts, Quilts” by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes. My first quilt is a pattern from this book. My more recent favorite is “Hexagons made Easy” by Jen Eskridge. Her book inspires me to make more EPP quilts because her patterns and ideas are modern and they are super-manageable.
Your choices look great! I love neutrals – must check out the Modern Neutrals book! I do tend to be a “love the one you’re with” girl when it comes to quilt books, but I think the one I’d grab on my way to being shipwrecked is Judy Martin’s “Shining Star Quilts”. It has so much inspiration. Thanks for sharing your faves.
I’m going to have to check out Modern Neutrals.
Thanks for sharing, I think we all have at least one book that has got us started on our addictions! How very cool to have a book of your own that is itself inspiring others, congratulations!
Both books you mentioned look wonderful. So many books, so little time!
Love “Modern Basics II.”
I loved your blog at http://www.blogionaire.com. I hope you get lots of visitors!
I was about 1/2 through the list of participants and decided to come back and leave a note for everyone. Each of you took time to post a lovely note of your inspiration and inspire us. The least I can do is thank each of you in some small way. It’s so much fun to see every person’s inspiration(s). I am enamored with the book you authored – modern neutrals. I’m more of a traditional quilter and have never made what I would consider a modern quilt. Maybe now is the time for me to get out of my comfort zone and do. I hadn’t thought about neutrals, I think BRIGHT when I think modern. Thanks for participating.
Love Modern Neutrals a lot; it’s clean and fresh! Thanks for sharing!
