Hi friends! It’s been two weeks since I released the pattern for Dancing Stars and over 800 people have downloaded the pattern! I’m looking forward to seeing all of those beautiful quilts!
If you’ve checked in on the flickr group, you know that there are a few new blocks, in some great color combos. If you haven’t pieced a block yet, don’t stress! Me either, sure I’ve pieced the few for the tutorial, and as examples, but I haven’t really started yet.
I’ve cut the brights, since I had to put the piles of fabric away, but still need to cut my background and white fabrics.
I might just cut those on a “as needed” basis.
Here’s a recap of posts :
Fabric Requirements & Selection
Jackie has a baby quilt kitted on her site now – click here for details.
And there’s a few more of Vicki’s hand dyed kit, available here.
Both kits are great options if you are having a hard time deciding on fabrics, or simply want to just sew!
What about you?
Have you selected your fabrics?
Watched the video?
Tested the block for yourself?
Let me know where you are in the process and be entered to win one of two template sets.
I will select winners on Friday!
Amy
I’ve downloaded the pattern and have some ideas on the values I’d like to use but haven’t gotten any further…
Wow, that is amazing that 800 people have downloaded the pattern. It is so pretty and I will definitely check out the flickr page.
Well, I’m on Star #3, have only just begun! I’l be slipping this in among the other projects as I get time (and can clear space for my messy paper piecing – is everyone this messy about it?!?). Tip for the Day: do NOT choose a directional fabric for either your background or white, you’ll make yourself nuts trying to control the direction, LOL!!
I am still trying to decide on my background fabric–I’m leaning toward a tone-on-tone instead of a solid.
Downloaded the pattern and planning to tr it out this weekend.

Hi there. I’ve made two blocks and am going scrappy so plan on sewing these while doing other projects.
Thanks
I have downloaded the pattern made some copies and watched the video. I plan to use my brighter batik scraps with grey and white but have not gathered my scraps yet.
I have my fabric selected, downloaded the pattern, printed off the paper piecing pattern, watched the video, joined the flicker group. I’m so looking forward to some quilting time with the paper piecing and fabric – but have other sewing I must finish first.
I’m waiting for my background fabric to arrive.
Wow, I remember the Dancing Stars from a previous post and would love to take it on, but alas, I must focus, focus on the centennial quilt I’m finishing.
Its does indeed look like an awesome pattern. I love it that so many of the modern quilters are really taking tradition and turning it upside down and all around!
I have selected my fabrics and downloaded the pattern. I can’t have this as my main project right now, but I am looking forward to working on it inbetween other things (a block here and there).
I have downloaded the pattern and watched the video tutorial but I’m stuck at the fabric buying stage! It’s always the hardest part for me! It’s on my list of things to do before the end of the month! I can’t wait to get started!
I will use scraps fabric fr the star but yet to decide on the background fabric …
Heya i am for the primary time here. I found this board and I find It truly useful & it helped me out much. I hope to give one thing again and aid others such as you aided me.
I love how popular your pattern is!! It’s on my list of things I want to make this year – although I can’t lie, I’m a bit intimidated…
How did I miss this until now? Head underwater or what?!?
I just downloaded and printed the pattern, have auditioned some fabric and will cut today if I can settle on what fabrics I like most! How fun. Will be gorgeous. Now to join the flickr group…
I have the pattern downloaded and I have my fabric picked. Now I need to decide if I want to do white or a dark color??????
HI! I’M EXCITED ABOUT THIS! I’VE SAVED THE PATTERN AND AM NOW CHOOSING MY FABRICS AND WANT TO START THIS AFTERNOON !
THANKS FOR YOUR INSPIRATION+A GIVEAWAY TOO!
I’ve downloaded and printed the pattern. I intend to use fabrics from stash but I’m still waffling over the background. Hope to start soon.
I’ve downloaded the pattern and printed out at the correct size (the first time I forgot to set it to no scaling.) I’ve watched the video but am still choosing fabric. I have in my mind’s eye the “white” background fabric I want to use, but need to see if it’s out there in actual fabric. Once I find that… I’ll be set to go.
I downloaded the pattern and am waiting for some fabric to arrive.
I’ve made one block – i’m still trying to determine the size I want!
I have downloaded the pattern (awesome) but haven’t printed it yet. I think I would like to make a small version as a wall hanging and have some yummy Konas…
Right now I’m still in the extreme temptation stage. So many WIP’s…but templates would push me over the edge. ;)
I downloaded the pattern — as soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect for scraps that have been accumulating. I love Vicki’s idea to use a gradient for the background. I haven’t joined flickr, mainly because I need to figure out how (I know, last one on the planet…)!
I know I’ve already commented but I wanted to come back and thank you for asking for updates from everyone. As I read through the comments and realize everyone is a different stages… now I don’t feel like I’m way behind everyone else!
Just the pattern download so far, but plan to start with a scrappy baby-sized quilt first, probably purples!
I’ve started! I have two stars made for ‘my quilt’ and I made one star that’s going to go into the sampler I made for my brother. My background is going to be scrappy beige’s and the stars are going to be contrasting random colors from my scrap bins. Such fun!
I have the pattern downloaded and loads of scraps I want to use for a bright, scrappy version. Now I need my work project to ease up so I have time. I’m anxiously awaiting May.
SEW MAMA SEW has ALL I repeat ALL 243 colors of KONA cotton!! at 5.85 a yard :)
I downloaded the pattern and have pulled scraps, but have yet to actually make a block yet. It’s high on my list though.
I have made 2 blocks so far and have 2 more cut out. I love the look of this pattern!
Aww, Shoot! I missed the deadline since I just came across this delightful QAL through Julie’s Quilts and Costumes. I’ll be pulling fabrics this weekend and downloading the pp pattern, I love the accuracy of pp and this will be my first quilt using this technique!
Thank you for the pattern and this group :)
I am ibto it,but haven’t started cutting yet. I finally figured out my background color! And I have to order it….loving this pattern!
I’ve selected my fabric and am ready to start cutting. First I have to get an ink cartridge for my printer so I can make copies of the template!
Wish I could be quilting but involved in setteling my late husbands estate 1st. I will be so happy when the Paper work is finished and I can start working on some floating stars ,
Hi my loved one! I want to say that this article is amazing, nice written and include almost all important infos. I’d like to peer more posts like this .
