It’s my stop on the festival tour! If you haven’t stopped by Megan’s yet, be sure to get all the details, including prizes, here. There’s a line up of great bloggers sharing loads of inspiration over the next two weeks, follow along to jump start your next project!
I shared my new pillow, a little over a week ago, and decided to make it the focal point of my post today. I LOVE having this piece on our couch, and the kids have been fighting over who gets to use it. Maybe I’ll have to make another!
To make this pillow cover, I used one charm pack, and about a half yard of Kona Natural.
It’s a great way to experiment with a small amount of fabric, and put your HST skills to the test! The only spot I made plans for was around the perimeter of the pillow, with the colorful half facing out. Then I laid out the squares I wanted to include, and added all the HST’s. I had fun working randomly instead of my usual detailed plans. Deviating from the norm is so freeing,, and will push your creativity too!
I used 20 – 5″ charms to make 160 HST units, and I made a PDF to share my method with you! Typically I would not be excited about making 160 HST units, but this makes it fairly painless. In the PDF I also included multiple sizes, so you can make it work for many of your future projects. Print and enjoy!

This pillow is absolutely gorgeous! The colours are fantastic! Thank you for sharing your pattern :-)
Beautiful pillow! I love HSTs.
Thanks for the pdf. I love finding new ways to use charm squares too.
Love this cushion!! Gorgeous :)
And the fact sheet you created on half square triangles is great–I have been playing with them myself after doing my first little pinwheel quilt with a charm pack and some solids–then I go inspired and made another with less wastage and more quilt! Your fact sheet takes out the double guess work for me, so thanks again!
