A Little Market Inspiration

I say “a little” because I know there are far more comprehensive posts, but here’s what caught my eye while I had my camera in hand.  There’s so much to look at, and honestly my camera is often forgotten, despite my usual tendencies to photograph everything!

Robert Kaufman is making a 45% silk/cotton blend.  Radiance will be on the blog again soon – I love it!

Natalie of Cinderberry Stitches’ cute fabric for Leicen – it’s adorable!

I loved this bag – so sweet!

Fabulous chairs and pillows in the Moda booth.

A Walk in the Woods, by Aneela Hooey, due out in February – also adorable!

My Dizzy Kitchen quilt hanging in the Blend Booth!

Mark Cesarik’s line Morning Tides, I loved his “Hugs” quilt –

Proof that you can do almost anything with patchwork!  Even give hugs.

A look at Parson Gray line, Curious Nature, by David Butler.  These masculine prints are fantastic!

Jeanne Morrison is so sweet and her fabrics are so beautiful and detailed – she also won a prize for her booth.  There’s more details about that on her blog.

Last but not least, I met Marcia Derse, who hand dyes fabrics, and this collection of her now printed fabrics caught my eye!  I love the texture  and subtle prints in her work.

Has anything caught your eye?

I’m looking forward to a few of these lines!

Does not really matter if something catches my eye – like silk/cotton….. if the quilt stores don’t buy it and REALLY in this market why would they…. sure 25% sells, but that does not cover cost….and then it goes to the sale bin…

These blends have been “out there” for a couple of years, but I have not seen them in the quilt stores….

The provider end says for the customer to ask ask ask about new stuff and you know….. the 5 shops I shop very often don’t ever know what is coming or what has been bought…. I think it is to just keep you coming back to look, or so that they don’t have to commit to any action….

There are still many many things that do arrive and are fun to see, but I have about given up on “finding” any wonder item. Too, I have not stooped to just buying on line…. in the long run it might be cheaper to just buy the one item one wants, pay the postage and not step into the local quilt stores…. heaven knows the “stash” in my house will see me till the end of my life.

I am so in love with the Marcia Derse fabrics…they are awesome. Thanks so much for sharing your Market photos – it’s almost like being there! One of these days if my web site for quilters takes off, maybe I’ll get to go there!
