My husband gave me a cute heart-shaped ring with my birthstone on our first Valentine's day . . . way back when we were 16! (We were dating then, not married, of course!)

The Chirp line is SO cute! Love it!

That's easy! My husband and I had only been going out for 6 weeks on our first Valentine's and he bought me a new walkman. Hardly romantic but he'd heard me mention in passing that mine was broken and had been thoughful enough to buy me a new one. He *listened* to me – and I fell in love with him (we've been married 11 years in the summer)

After my husband and I had our children, my mom gave me a bracelet that that said MOM and XOXO. I love that bracelet!

Oh I love the green Chirp! :-) I used to make a special day of Valentine's when the kids were small with heart cookies, special dinner, tablecloth etc. And I made DD dresses from heart fabrics~ when she was a toddler heart pj's! :-)

Those are all cute! Who doesn't love a sweet little bird! If I win, it will be a great Valentine's day gift.

Nick and I got engaged over Valentine's/Pres. Day weekend – that was a pretty awesome gift. But really, we have declared Valentine's day a card holiday – I have some of the sweetest notes and cards from him over the last 6 years. Those are the best gifts.

Oh….I LOVE the green chirp…I have been drooling over it ever since I saw it in a quilt shop catalog…
One year, DH gave me tickets for the two of us to fly to Chicago for the weekend… I was stunned to say the least. We had such a great time bar hopping and seeing the sights..

    This is adorable!

My husband and I rarely celebrate Valentine's Day. We're usually either too broke or too wrapped up in the kids' activities, but this year he gave me the new version of Photoshop Elements – early. I love it when he thinks about my hobbies and gets me something related to that because even though flowers and chocolate are awesome, hobby stuff is what I really want.

Thanks for the chance to win!

    Valentine's Day, eh?
I think the best gift (and I get it every year)is the most personal and heartfelt card from my hubby.
He's so tender and sincere, it always melts my heart :)

The best Valentine's gift I got from my husband was coming to the mutual decision that Valentine's would be our low key dinner night :) Every year we find a local/small/unassuming place to eat at and it's usually very quiet. We love it :)

  15. silversmith February 10, 2010 at 8:08 am - Reply

my favorite valentine's gift given was a handmade heart wall sculpture that i gave to my husband. it's hard to describe, but it was made from reclaimed barn wood, reclaimed copper that edged the heart and made really cool wings at the top. there was also a "U" in the middle of the wood heart made from the copper so it read "love you" from symbols.

i gave it to my husband for our first valentine's day as a married couple (less than 2 weeks after the wedding), but i had bought it several years before, waiting for the perfect time to give it to him. i always knew i'd marry him.

The best Valentine's gift my husband gave me was back when we were dating. He gave me a card with a really nice love poem in it. I think he also gave me flowers that year.

Before we were married, my DH gave mailed me a saffire necklace and a teddy bear (I was in college at the time). Unfortunately, UPS called me before it arrived and said it was jewelry. But I was so confused by the call, I was still surprised when it arrived. :)

Best gift was when we were on a budget so instead of a present, he hid notes and peanut butter cups all over the house. I kept finding them for months afterwards.

After losing two children during the second trimester and trying for 5 years, we got pregnant on Valentines! My sweet husband had taken me to a lovely hotel for the night. After sending me off to have a massage, he took me to dinner at a French restaurant, then back to the hotel. My 12 year old son is the result!

My favorite thing to get on Valentines Day is a card from my husband, he always writes the sweetest things and then if I am having a bad day, I can go back and read them again.

The best Valentines Day for me was in 1977.
It was the day that my Son arrived from
Korea, and even after all this time we
celebrate that day as his birthday also. He
arrived at 5:30 at the age of 5 months
and has been the best gift anyone could
every have gotten. We gave him the
name of Nahan, which means Gift of God,
which says it all. After waiting a long time
to have a family our prayers were answered.

He gave me some snazzy bling. While traveling out west with the family in the Black HIlls area, I so wanted some black hills gold esp the pink gold; but with six kids and vacationing, the budget was too tight. Although it is from a local jeweler, he bought me a beautiful set of earrings/necklace with pink gold from the black hills….I LOVE him!

I love Valentine's day! My best present is undeniably my youngest son …. who was born on February 13th and I got to spend a lovely V-day gazing at him while in the hospital.

The best present I've given was just this year. I made my boyfriend an awesine quilt and it totally blew him away!

  28. tong February 10, 2010 at 8:20 am - Reply

My fiance and I don't really care much for Valentine's Day (why do you need a made-up "holiday" to show how much you love and appreciate someone?!), so we never do anything for it. The best gift I've received, however, was just a couple weeks ago when my fiance planned a weekend getaway for us to Niagara Falls all on his own, for my birthday and our 5-year dating anniversary. The best gift I've ever given is a quilt I made for my grandmother this past Christmas, she loved it so much she cried when she first saw it!

Thank you so much for the giveaway!!

my favourite present was a surprise diamond ring from my husband for the birth of our firstborn AND my 30th birthday, which happened to be a day before the birth of our son. (I seem to get kids for my birthdays, our third child, a girl was born the day before my 36th birthday :-) )
he had to run around and organise a lot of things to get the ring, and I never expected one, and just couldn't believe my eyes when he took it from his pocket in the hospital and put it on my finger – lovely memories ever since :-)

We always just do cards and small gifts for Valentines, but my husband is a great gift giver for birthdays and Christmas. My favorite gift received was from this past year, he gave me a super long strand of pearls that I've been wanting. Total surprise!

Such cute fabric – I hadn't seen it before! Valentine's day isn't a huge gift-giving holiday for me and the fiancee. However, one year, when I dealing with some medical issues and feeling awful, he sweetly trekked across Boston through downpours to pick up dinner and bring it for us to share with a movie night in on Valentine's Day.

This years gift was pretty nice..he gave to me a little early. I finally found a local sewing class. He suprised me with a tool case and all kinds of stuff to go with it…a seam ripper 2 pairs of scissors, needles for my machine tape measure thread and a new rotary cutter with a big cutting mat. I am probably missing something the tool box was packed full….he said no one helped him he looked in a book at the craft place and got all the start up supplies. I loved it..

On our first cruise ( A quilting cruise!!) my husband knew I wanted a pair of diamond hoop earrings. after looking and looking, I found nothing except I did find a blue diamond necklace. The earrings to match just put the price over the top of what we could afford so I just got the necklace. The next night while I was sewing during the "open" sewing he walked in with a bag. ALL the other cruise ladies were there. Anyhow, he gave me the earrings to match the necklace…because he won enough money at the on board casino to buy them. I was in TOTAL shock. I NEVER expected we could afford them. Heck I was sewing, I didn't know he went to the casino. All the ladies just swooned over my husband and his thoughtfulness…I was in shock. So that was probably the best surprise he's given me so far.

I don't get traditional "gifts" at Valentine's day, but last year my boyfriend took me to this awesome tiny restaurant and let me order every single thing I wanted to taste. It was so fun and fancy! This year he's taking me to see one of my favorite bands ever, missing one of his favorites as a result. He's pretty good at Valentine's day.

My husband who is in the Air Force, was sent to Haiti almost 3 weeks ago with just a few hours notice.
He is amazing though, and managed to hide a card in one of the kitchen cupboards for me. I haven't opened it yet, but it already means so much.

I've never gotten anything spectacular as a Valentine's day gift, but a few years ago, I had arranged to purchase a puppy from a breeder & good friend of mine. We hadn't talked price yet, but I knew her price range as I'd bought a dog from her before. When I went to pick her up, I asked "How much," and she said, very surprised, "Nothing…she's a present." She's now 3 1/2 and is an awesome dog.

Wow, it's kinda hard to remember Valentines Days past! but for our first anniversary (8 years ago) my husband bought me a bike! We lived in a small town at the time and I had mentioned wanting one, but he listened and it was a total surprise. Since the first anniversary is the "paper" anniversary, I named the bike "Paper." I still have it and still ride it :)

I have to say my favorite Valentines Day gift was one where my husband got up way before I did, snuck out, closed the door, then made me heart shaped pancakes. Then he suprised me with breakfast in bed with a handmade Valentines Day card. That just was the most wonderful thing ever. I still have the card out where I can see it everyday.

As a perpetually single woman on Valentine's Day (such is life), I very much appreciate my friends who give me little things — a flower, some chocolate, a cupcake…whatever to make me feel less excluded. I can't thank them enough for thinking of me on a day when the world assumes coupledom (I don't mean to sound bitter, it's just not my favorite holiday though friends make it much better than it otherwise would be).

My best "gift" was my husband – who is "morally opposed" to Valentine's planning to take me out to the poshed restaurant in town. He failed miserably but he tried v hard. We've boycotted VD ever since.

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day 'round these parts :) BUT! My husband did give me a string of pearls for our one year wedding anniversary this year, and I most certainly cried. Tears of joy, mind.

We're not big Valentine's people in my family but the best gift I have given was the trillion cut peridot necklace I gave to my mom one year for mothers day. She loved it so much she was speechless and almost started crying, and my mom isn't a crier!

The best Valentine gift I have ever received was my daughter. She was due on Valentine's Day, but since it was a weekend and I had to have a c-section the Dr said the birth would be on Monday the 16th. I remember joking with the Dr that I might start labor and get my Valentine baby, but like he said, he likes his weekends without having to work too! My Valentine Girl is now 28 and is going to make me a grandmother in July.

The best Valentine's gift I've received was from my husband on our first Valentine's Day when we were dating. It was one of those BIG heart shaped boxes of chocolates from a candy store in town. We were in college, and I know it cost a lot, but every piece was delicious, and I still have the box 18 years later.

"I" am the mushy one in our marriage. We like to RV over America so I already got a card that relates to "the miles we've traveled and yet to cross".

My favorite "thing" for Valentine's Day is not a "thing" at all but the LOVE that is shared. And that love could simply be hubby winking at me or asking me to go to McDonald's for their $1 menu's double cheeseburger because he knows I love them.

Love and simplicity – hubby knows that's what it's about for me.

My most memorable Valentine's Day gift was from my now husband. We had only been dating 5 months but already knew we were meant to be. We went away to Williamsburg Va for Valentines and got snowed in and had to stay 2 more days because of the storm. He proposed to me that weekend with a lovely engagement ring! That was my favorite gift but every year is a gift in itself having him as my soul mate. I am so happy to be celebrating my sixth anniversary with him this upcoming year. Thanks for the give away and even if I don't win it was fun thinking about that weekend! Thanks, Stephanie

A valentine's gift? what's that? but my hubbie did get kudos for my surprise 30th birthday party in which he lured me to a lovely restaurant where my friends were waiting in a private room. that was a *long* time ago!

This may sound hokey, but I love the dandelion bouquets my kids give me in the summer. We've got plenty of dandelions in our yard! Plus, out of my 4 children, only 1 is still young enough to bring them to me! I know I'm going to miss them someday! The best part is putting them in a nice glass vase on the window sill – and then sneaking a look at their smiles when they see it displayed :)

We are not big Valentine's people but I love the little things that show love – like coming home to the dishes cleaned and put away after a full day of work and then a 4hr stats class.
My husband knows that I can have rough days at work so sometimes he will call and leave me a voicemail on my work line just to make me smile when I hear it.

My favorite Valentine's Day was when I awoke on Valentine's Day and made my way to the coffee pot. Lying next to it was a paper towel (yes I said paper towel!) with "Happy Valentine's Day" written all over it and a little package of "smarties' sweet tarts taped to the towel. Now how creative is that?? I know he probably forgot to get something, but the fact that he put effort into coming up with something was priceless! We will celebrate 39 wonderful years of marriage in June! This is amazing, especially since we only knew each other approx 6 weeks when we got married!

It took him half a day to get that gift to me and I still wear it today.

My best gift is kinda cheesy. Four years ago my now-fiance had just moved back from Philly and was broke. We had done long distance for the first four months of our relationship. Since he had moved back we had been discussing a puppy.

I met up with him right after work and we went to go look at this adorable fluff ball. We talked about him and went back to get him the next day. Boss, the puppy, was a great addition to our relationship. He had my ring tied around his next when fiance proposed. He's adorable, sweet, and loving like any dog should be. It has also shown me a side of fiance that makes me excited to be his wife and mother of his kids…kids someday.

I'm living 1,000 miles away from my fiance and Boss. It's a great memory especially since I will not see them until April.

I think the best gift I was given was 8 years ago when my husband I were married two days after Valentine's Day. We were married on Feburary 16, 2002 for all time and etenity. Each year we are lucky enough to celebrate both Valentine's day and our Anniversary all in the same week. It turns out that we have a 4 day holiday.

  129. mouse February 10, 2010 at 10:52 am - Reply

This was an anniversary gift, but the first year after my now-husband and I started dating, he made me a rose out of $1 bills (1 year, 1 rose, $1 bills) and hid it at my desk at work. Once we had a disagreement about who had actually paid for something, and each of us began trying to return the money back to the other. This evolved into a sort of game where we would hide the bills (it was maybe $4) to try to return them, or fold them into elaborate shapes so the other person would feel they should keep them. So this was reminiscent of that, and a sweet reminder of the mischievous playfulness we enjoy together :)

When you are a woman and you are early in a relationship Valentine's Day is such a big deal. But my Hubby HATES it. After a few years I learned not expect anything and have adapted to indifference over the holiday. I'm totally fine with that. But the first Valentine's Day after we got married I came home to an elaborate dinner made by Hubby, complete with chocolate mousse from scratch. Hubby hates cooking as much as he hates V-Day, so this was a big deal.

Come to think of it, he's never cooked like that again in 7 years!

My best Valentines gift was Brian proposing. He had convinced me that we needed to wait another year to get engaged because we had been dating long distance for a year. He wanted me to move to Virginia so we could date in close proximity. I was disappointed but agreed. I flew in from California for a weekend visit and he surprised me with a fantastic dinner at one of an old, historic, hotel. After dinner, he told me he wanted to show me the rooftop deck because the view was amazing. When we got up there, he had roses, petals, and candles all over the place. I was amazed! When I turned around he was on one knee :D Best. Gift. Ever.

I love lilacs, which don't grow very well in the central valley of California because I think they need to get some freezing weather in the winter. Anyway, my husband was doing a kitchen remodel job for someone who actually had tons of lilac bushes in her back yard. He told her of my love for lilacs and she told him to go ahead and pick whatever he wanted. He came home and put them in every vase and canning jar he could find, put them all in my office and closed the door. When I opened my door my office was just glorious. Not only the beauty of the flowers but the scent. So romantic…

We don't really make a big deal about Valentine's Day…not a fan of Hallmark holidays ;-) But my greatest gifts are the notes that dh leaves me…they're on scraps of paper from the recycling box, but they mean the world to me.

Every year my husband gets me a piece of jewelry in a oversized box with a card, last year the box trembled when I went to open it and inside was a tiny ball of brown fluff, we named her Lady Valentina and she is still a ball of fluff just bigger, the gift that keeps on giving…our lovely little pom.

Valentine's day came a few weeks after I met my future husband. He is in the Air Force, but I had yet to see him in his dress uniform. So when I arrived at his house, he answered the door decked out in that incredibly sexy uniform. He gave me a wooden frame that he made himself and then took me to the fair. A great Valentine's Day.

Oooh, Boy Chirp is too cool!!

This time last year, I was recovering from back surgery, and slowly getting back into quilting. I often flip through quilt catalogs and make little wish lists of what I would get if I had the money. Little did I know, my husband had swiped one of these and ordered a bunch of things I had checked! Such a sweet thing, and really brightened my Valentine's Day!

My husband gave me a necklace with a little figure representing each child. It was wrapped in a big box. I pulled a string and one child at a time came out. At the end was the chain to hang them on.

My favorite Valentine gift came from my son who was eight at the time.(nine yrs. ago) He gave me a claddah ring, the one with hands holding a heart topped with a crown. He said I was the holder of his heart and the queen in his life and always would be. I have never taken the ring off. I think of the little man he was that day as he has grown into a wonderful young adult. I still hold his heart at this point he sometimes reminds me. But someday I know a lucky girl will come along and she will then be the keeper of his heart. But this will always be my favorite Valentine gift.

Ooh, I love the neutral birdies! We don't do Valentine's Day as our anniversary is 10 days after–so the best present I received for our 9th anniversary was a gold necklace. DH and I had agreed NOT to buy presents that year and then we both surprised the other with a gold chain necklace. DH has never taken his off…Keeper! We celebrate 25 years this anniversary.

My second favorite gift is the emboridery machine that he gave me for our first wedding anniversary. I had always wanted one..and he made that dream come true.

I don't have a favorite Valentine's gift, but I do have the worst one! When I was in college, but then boyfriend thought that the way to win my heart was to embarrass the heck out of me. He sent a singing telegram to me on campus. I was in a lounge with a bunch of stutdents that I didn't know and this guy dressed in a huge red heart comes in and says my name. I froze and didn't acknowledge the heart in any way. As a matter of fact, I looked around the room like, "Oh dear God! Who is that for?!?!"

Then, one of the boyfriend's friends came in and pointed me out so that the heart could sing to me. IN FRONT OF PEOPLE.

    Horrifying!!! Embarrassing!!!

Needless to say, I'm no longer with that guy and it didn't last much longer after this episode!

And I haven't dated on Valentine's Day since then, so no 'good' presents… :(

Pick me and make up for it! :-D lol

The first Valentine's Day after we were married I wrapped up a big box of "timely" gifts for my husband and sent them off to work with him. Every hour on the hour throughout the day he was supposed to open the appropriately timed gift. I start at 8 am and ended at 6 pm, with dinner at home. We've been married three years now and he still has every part of the gift (that wasn't edible)! It's fun to look back over the cheesy V-day cards and chuckle at my crazy rhymes — I do know it went down in (office) history as the best Valentine's gift ever. *grin*

p.s. That was the year Hallmark put out the "thumping heart" monkey. My husband told me later he was a little hesitant to squeeze the monkey's hand in his cubicle, so he took it into the bathroom just in case… Apparently my mischief is well-known by some! ;o)

He didnt sign the card so it was fun to realize I had a secret admirer. When have been together ever since and have two beautiful children together.

my best Valentine's Day gift ~ it was probably about 10 years ago. My husband typed up 8 notes for me & glued a red heart onto each & hid them in the house. Each note was several sentences and corresponded with the place he hid them (note in the kitchen talked about how much he appreciated all the work I do to to keep our family fed…) I knew there were 8 notes, because he'd accidentally left the scraps from cutting out the hearts on the table, but I could only find 7 of them. I was hunting everywhere for the last one (I wasn't supposed to know how many there were, I just supposed to be surprised as I happened across them…) I finally found that last one in my van.
I still have them; I find them, re-read them, and hide them again :-)

My favorite gift ever from my husband of nearly 35 years was actually for Christmas, not Valentine's. (He is not much of a Valentine celebrator…hey, this is the man whose very first gift to me was an iron, for crying out loud!)

Anyway, it was a few years back and it consisted of several cards with sweet sayings and gifts.
    1) "You are the light of my life" — it was a mini flashlight that attached to my keyring.
    2) "You bring color to my otherwise dull life" — box of 64 crayons!
There were 3 or 4 more with bigger gifts attached, but I loved these 2 especially.

This was not a Valentine gift, but the best gift I ever got.
I lost my Mom last July to Breast Cancer. I was going through a very rough time, she was not only my Mom but my best friend, quilting buddy, and my biggest supporter.
My daughter who was 8 at the time came across a contest in the paper. It was an Amazing Mom Contest put on by Aqua Fresh.
She filled out the form and mailed it in without telling me. About 2 months later I got a call telling me I won the contest and was going to be treated to a day at a great spa in Scottsdale AZ.
I could not have needed it more, it was by far the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.

I received a beautiful bouquet of multi colored roses about a 2 weeks before Valentine's Day from my SO (significant other)who was out of town at the time. Anyhow a young co-worker (a guy!) sitting next to me was totally impressed and said I think that is the most beautiful bouquet of flowers I have ever seen, and I had to agree!

I suggested he send his new bride the same thing this year and he laughed. I wish but, those are not in our budget this year, perhaps one day! I went to the florist who had delivered them and asked for a blank card, I went back to work and at the end of the day wrapped the flowers back up and gave them to my co-worker with the empty card and told him to take them home to his wife…with one condition that he not tell her they were mine first. I told him I had already gotten the enjoyment of a surprise and it would be fun to surprise someone else. They were too beautiful not to pay them forward. He was silent and then smiled… cool, ok.

My favorite gift is from my husband. I think it may have been for my birthday though. When I lived in London I had a favorite mug I used for tea. I toted that mug all over Europe and it made it through several moves back in the US. One day the handle broke off my mug and I was so sad. I shelved it and moved on. My husband went to a paint your own pottery place and made me a brand new mug that looks strikingly like my London mug.

We normally keep Valentines day pretty small, but one of my favorite gifts hubby ever got me was an Elephant and beautiful red blanket for our bed. The reason why I loved it so much was because he really had to put some thought into that gift, and it shows he pays attention to what I like. (I collect elephants, and he knew I was wanting a new blanket for our bed, and paid attention to what I would really like!) I have redecorated since then, so I no longer use that blanket, but I was very proud of him for that special Valentines day gift!

I had come over to her house for a visit…she left the room…next thing I knew she walked up to me, hand clasped around something…I knew what it was, we both started sobing…she told me she wanted me to have it, ironcially I was just looking at it yesterday, it is not worth any money but to me it is priceless and could never be replaced, just as my Grandma was :)

The best gift from my husband definitely has to be a heart necklace that he bought me a few years back. It has 4 yellow diamonds (my favorite) around the middle, and then 16 white diamonds around the outside. I only mention that because my birthday is April(4) 16 :) How cool!! Thanks for the giveaway!!

Any gift from my Daddy. As a card carryin' southerner, I'm partial to my Daddy. He always managed to find the sweetest cards and best gifts to say "I love you" and make my sister and me feel special! Even at 25 (and married!) I still look for V-Day cards from Daddy.

My husband arranged to take me out for lunch on our anniversary. He left for work in the morning, and then waited in hiding for me to leave the house with our children to take them to my mother-in-law to mind while we went for lunch. He then went back into the house, packed suitcases of clothes, and when he came to pick me up from his mother's house to take me for lunch, he surprised me by driving up to the check-in entrance of the most gorgeous hotel in town, where he'd booked us into the honeymoon suite for the weekend. The valet guy opened the car door for me, asking "checking in Madam?" and I said, "Oh, no, we're just here for lunch". But when I got out of the car, I saw the trunk open and suitcases emerge. I was so moved by what my husband had done, and the effort he'd gone to to set this up. It was such a romantic weekend. (Only thing he'd "forgotten" to pack for me was my underwear!)

Now my husband still goes out of his way to celebrate early. This year I got 2 dozen roses the last week of January to kick the festivities off :) Yay for thoughtful husbands!! I love the neutral!

Anything hand-drawn by my daughter. She's 4 and she gets so excited when she hands me something (this year she cut and colored paper hearts and practiced her writing on them) and tells me that she made them "just for me". I cherish those gifts.

What a great question: I believe the best gift I have ever given was a surprise appearance at my dad's 70th birthday party. My family lives in Germany and I live in the US – with the help of my sister & brother-in-law I showed up as surprise guest: my dad (and mum)was absolutely stunned and had tears in his eyes. It was a very special visit: unreal that nobody had "spilled the beans" of my arrival and the week-long unplanned visit that followed the party was a time we will never forget!

I LOVE Valentine's Day & my husband know it! Of course, it doesn't hurt that my bday is the following day. For the longest time my (now) husband would create me a card by drawing or copying the human heart. He would always say that he loved me enough to fill a 4-chambered heart, not the flimsy 2-chambered ones at the store. One year, when we were separated for Valentine's, he ordered, and had shipped to me, a solid chocolate 4-chambered heart. My friend thought he was nuts, but I loved it!

I have enjoyed watching birds as far back as I can remember, and I especially enjoy watching birds eat at our bird feeders. One of our most entertaining feeders is for the Bluebirds, where the bird enters inside the feeder to eat. Weather had aged our feeder so bad that the bluebird food was getting wet, not a good thing. Dear hubby decided to make a new feeder using the old one as a pattern, Valentine's Day was near, and his gift still proudly feeds our birds today.

In 1981 I was taking a Biology class in college. My professor talked really fast and, at times, I had a hard time keeping up with my notes. So, in passing one day, I mentioned to my husband that it would be nice to have a small tape recorder so I could tape the lectures while I took notes. On Valentine's Day that year he surprised me with a tape recorder and some chocolates. I was so surprised.

My favorite gift is my wedding ring! Hands down ! I know is sound rather fairy tale but I LOVE my ring. Dan did a great job of picking it out and it means so much to me. There was a sunday not to long ago that we actually turned around on the way to church to go home. I thought I'd lost it and physicly could not function. Thank God that is was safe. My favourite gift must have been one of the Kosta Boda crystal art pieces I got from husband a few years ago. We have very different tastes in art, so he's stretching his own comfort zone buying me these pieces. The artwork is gorgeous in itself, but the fact that he got it for me makes it even more special.

Of course, I was so upset and actually vented my frustration to my now-husband! But 10 days later, to my surprise, we got engaged!

The BEST Christmas present: I had lost my diamond in my wedding ring when we were at our timeshare here in Va Bch VA many years back. I still wore my wedding ring anyway trying not to remember the diamond was missing. A few years later it was Christman morning, with my five daughters sitting around we all opened our gifts. But, I noticed suddendly my hubby, Jeff, was not around, as I thought he was in the kitchen getting his coffee. Then here he comes with this gift bag and laid it down in front of me..it was heavy..I opened it up and pulled out a Bonsai tree and a note attached which read "This is your Journey's End Linda, don't you just love the ornament. I looked at the Bonsai tree and then our Chrismas tree back and forth a few times, THEN I saw it,, on a branch of the Bonsai Tree there was a diamond ring!! OMG, how could I miss that,, I looked around at my daughters and saw tears in their eyes they were so awed at what I had finally found, I started crying, hubby teared up and I gave him a hug and he put the ring on my finger while he knelt on the floor on one knee.. THAT was the bestest Christmas EVER~!

When I met my husband, his lovely wife of 48 years had passed away and he was a bit lonely. We just fell in love with each other and as he healed we grew closer. On Valentines Day, we had been dating for three months and he had asked earlier what I would like, so I said a diamond necklace, earrings and ring. He said after a lovely dinner, it is time to go shopping, we went to Jared and he let me pick out any earrings I wanted. We were married six months later with my necklace appearing around mothers day and of course my wedding ring. He is such a blessing to me.

my best valentine gift? I can't say I've ever actually recieved a valentine's gift, 7 years ago, I ended up in our church with a pastor asking me why we wanted to elope- this was my husbands way of preposing..we were married on February 18th, so valentines day gets passed over year now-although that one (in the church) is for sure my favorite, even if I was so shocked at the time I couldn't answer!
Other than that, last year he made me paper flowers that he cut and shaped and glued himself..(for our anniversary.)
I LOVE this line! Hope I can win~

What a lovely giveaway! Well, my birthday is Valentine's Day so my gifts that day are part Valentine's gifts and part birthday gifts.
I'd have to say that my favorite was the car my husband bought me for my 30th. Now, not just because it was a car but because of all of the thought that went into it. He researched it like crazy and picked a car that had all of the features hat he knew I'd love in one car. Plus he bought it about two weeks before the actual day and kept it at a friend's house and customized it a little more too. I love that he set it up as a surprise because he never surprises me and I love surprises. So it was mainly the effort that he put into finding me the perfect car than it was the fact that he bought me a car. :)

We hit a big show like Houston or Paducah or we just hit the road with bags and credit cards. This year it is going to be a road trip from Houston to Atlanta. The best Valentine Day gift was from my boyfriend. We hadn't been dating very long when he asked out to dinner on Valentine Day. That year Valentine Day landed on my woman's league bowling night so I declined the offer. After thinking about for a day or two I called him up and asked if the dinner offer was still good. I decided I could bowl the other 51 weeks out of the year. Thinking about it now, what if he had made other plans…. but he said yes and we went to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. This year marks our 20th year anniversary of going to dinner at that same restaurant. Yes, I married him. Last year after the chips and salsa had been served, the waiter brought me the biggest bouquet of flowers from my husband to celebrate our 19th Valentine Day dinner date.

The best valentines gift I ever received was when my Mom was sick and I was going to pick her up from the hospital and stay with her for a couple days. My hubby had hid a new jewelry armore in the back of the vehicle. Plus he also had a bag of my favorite candy (Twizzlers) and a can of SPAM (my favorite). The best part was he took so much slack from the checkout girl (he also works same place)but just stood there and kept smiling telling her "I know my wife she will love it". And I did. (I would have been on cloud 9 with just the twizzlers and the spam)

Valentine's Day 1986 – We had only one car. I had a seven day a week early morning newspaper delivery route from 4:30am to 6am. I also babysat children in our home from 6:30am until 8pm Monday through Friday along with caring for our 11 month old daughter everyday. My husband's job, restaurant management, kept him away from home six days a week from noon until midnight or later. Some mornings my husband would be going to bed as I was waking up to deliver newspapers. On this particular Valentine's Day, I thought that was the case until I really focused on the bedside clock and realized I had slept way too long! He pulled me back into bed, kissed me and said, "Don't worry. I delivered the papers. Happy Valentine's Day!" And that is one of the reasons our partnership has survived more than 25 years!

Since my husband is military I would have to say any Vday he is home. But the best present would be a beautiful beaded bracelet he purchased from a lady that made them. I had pointed it out to him when we stopped to look at them and he went back and got it! Lucky me to have a wonderful husband. A Calloway callowayamanda@hotmail.com

Valentine's is fairly new (and way plasticky) here in Portugal (is this open internationally? if not, then please skip over me), so my best gift is from my mom, who lived in the States with me, and is fond of this holiday (and most others): a Meyer lemon tree, my favorite, the year I was really depressed and tired.
Best I've given will be this year, a doll I'm finishing for the baby.

In 20 years my husband has only once given me a Valentine's Day present and that was because my Dad reminded him.
It was lovely arrangement of dark blue iris that he'd insisted the florist made up specially.

The best Valentine's gift I've ever received was from my husband while we were dating. It was our first Valentine's together and I had just come back from a week with 200 junior high kids skiing and camp food. He picked me up, made me my favorite dinner and presented me with my gift, a book. The book featured the both of us as the main characters. It was a fictional story that used our characteristic and physical attributes to describe the characters. It was the funniest thing I've ever read.

I would have to say that this Valentine's Day gift will be on the top of my "most special" list.
My husband ordered me a silver necklace engraved with "My hands are almost as full as my heart" with the names of our four beautiful grandchildren in a circle around the heart.
    Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

When I started dating my husband, my best friend sent me a luscious red satin gown. She knew I was meeting my "soon to be" hubby for Valentines in Marrietta, GA. When he saw me in the gown his mouth fell open. But when he handed me a little box all wrapped in red paper, my mouth was the one that dropped. Inside was a beautiful diamond necklace. It was the very first diamond I had ever been given. Of course I cried like a baby.

my beloved proposed to me on a mile long pier at midnight so it was very dark,I was not expecting it-wejust had a lovely dinner & it was getting late.We were at the Lake & I always walk out along the pier.My beloved has some `issues'(heights,lights,..)the piers narrow & have no railings towards the ends -it's late, dark, waves crashings, no lighting,he is trying to propose & has this package in his hand that I am not aware of:soft pink satin gloved `hands' holding a satin pinker heart. with what I thought was a stitched ring. I toss it down to hug & kiss him as he cringes in shock, as waves crash over nearly taking it with, he falls to the cement to claim it…it is a diamond engagement ring he adorably put on it… (why didn't he do it over dinner with champange in a warm room?) WEll this I will never forget.

It is hard to think over all the years what the best gift I ever received is. Maybe this year, my husband gave me 3 sheep. Now, that may sound strange, but since a little girl I have wanted a sheep. I am now 61 and just got my sheep!

As far as giving a gift, I think it was with my late husband. His birthday was Valentines day so it was a double great day. One year I posted an ad in the paper under auto, as he was looking for a car. It was a Happy Birthday, Happy Valentines day "ad". He was still in school, we had several kids and no money. To him the "ad" and the homemade dinner following was a big surprise and and a real heart warmed for me to give.

He died in 99 and even though I am remarried I find Valentine's day a bit of a bitter sweet day. I still remember his face that day he read the "ad".

I was in the middle of my divorce, I hadn't seen my daughter all week and wouldn't see her for at least 4 or 5 more days (she was with her father on vacation), and I was feeling absolutely lonely and miserable. My then-boyfriend drove 9 hours to surprise me and spend the weekend with me. I don't think I could have asked for a more thoughtful present. It's sure lasted longer than a bouquet of flowers!

My favorite "gift" was that my now husband asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentines Day 19 years ago. We were still in high school and had been friends for a while. He didn't seem interested in dating, but for me hanging out was great. 19 years ago this Valentine's day, he asked me to be his "girl". We have been together every since. He joined the Navy 17 years ago and we have gone through deployments, moves around the country, and lots together. He is the best "gift" I could have ever gotten, on Valentines Day or any other day for that matter.

For me, it was the vase of 5 yellow roses sent to me by my dear friend (at the time). He wanted to show me how much he cared about me, and I was clueless how deep those feelings went. Until that Valentines Day. It was a wonderful surprise, during a brutal mid-term week in college. I married him two years later, and it has been 19 years since he sent the roses. I still adore this man– I am blessed without a doubt.

I can't say that one in particular stood out. Each year the boys bought gifts for the girls in the family and visa versa. I think this is the first year we didn't do that. OK, maybe this year, I got a new transmission for my car!!

I have to say I'm lucky enough to have 2 favorites and it was today. The first from my son who had to write an essay on his favorite person and it was me. The teacher sent it home with a note saying this is your Valentine's. Also from my grandson who came in carrying a purple stuffed bear I had been eyeing. Thanks for the giveaway.

I love Valentines day… but my hubby and I don't do gifts. Instead every year we have a stay at home lobster dinner. I love to try new recipes and I especially LOVE to have lobster for under $15! Yummy!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I love it when my husband gives me flowers. He hardly ever does it because he thinks they are a waste but I love them!

A stuffed monkey that I got from my husband back when we were dating. He came to pick me up (I'd only known him for two weeks) and when he opened the car door for me there was a huge monkey in the front seat holding a dozen roses. I somehow mentioned to him that I loved chimpanzees, and the monkey he got me was a huge gorilla, but I thought it was so sweet of him to try, and it was hilarious to me that he didn't know a chimpanzee from a gorilla!

I'm so glad I married that monkey boy! :)

My birthday is February 7th so I let Hubby get away with one gift for the two holidays. One year we bought a new house. Another year we bought a new car.
